29th December – Reach Daily Challenges Commentary

Why have I got Coolio’s ‘Gangsta’s Paradise’ stuck in my head? That’s not particularly Christmassy!

Shootin’ and Lootin’ – Kill 150 enemies in any game mode in Reach – 1500 cR

Between the multiplayer and Firefight challenges today you should pick this up by going after them, so no need to rush for it.

Killagruntjaro! – Earn 10 multikills in a Firefight Matchmaking game – 1000 cR

10 multikills is easy – if you go to Gruntpocalypse on Corvette and use the DMR to snipe Grunts. Go to the platform off the left corridor as you start and you can shoot them coming out of the low room opposite, then coming down the central ramp and finally going through the centre or the further shield. Multikills do stack, so an Overkill counts as three for the double and triple kill as well.

Sticky Icky Icky – Earn 4 sticky grenade kills in a multiplayer Matchmaking game – 1500 cR

Elite Slayer is going to be just grenades flying everywhere. It’s going to be even worse with Armour Lock as that causes a grenade to become unstuck, which everyone seems to use in Elite Slayer. Chris suggested last time we saw this to play Slayer Pro, where you can select Warden and get two Plasma Grenades, and apparently Armour Lock isn’t an option. You can do it in any normal multiplayer game, I know Sword Base (by the ramp up to the main killing area where the small room is) and Countdown (above the stairs at the end of the corridor where Red team start) have some Plasma Grenades sitting around. Any other thoughts on this challenge and grenade locations?

Vengeance Found – Earn your ‘Revenge’ in a multiplayer Matchmaking game – 1150 cR

Revenge is when you kill the guy who killed you. Chances are you’ll pick this up naturally. That said, there are some maps that seem to make it easier, particularly ones where you can get back to someone really quickly. Team SWAT on Asylum’s good because you can snipe the guy who took you out from afar. I like Countdown because the high platform by the jets and ramps is always a killing zone that’s easy to get to and you’ll often find your killer there. Again Infection might be good if you’re the zombie and you get shot by a human and can then take them out.

Just waiting for my Kinects to arrive, then I’m going shopping for a new phone. One that makes it easier to type long blog posts would be really good, although I’m going to wait for any announcements at CES in January.

Sticky Icky Icky: Cage on Slayer Pro. There’s 2 sticky grenades by one of the health packs down the side of one of the ramps that heads to one of the square larger platform areas.

    I’ll try and find/get a screenshot.

I get so many sticky kills on Cage.

Do it in multi-team… there are so many people running around in a king of the hill match that all you have to do is toss stickies into the hill and you’ll get kills.

    Your blog rocks! Thanks.

I did one Multi-team and a grunt score-attack and was done with all 4. I got lucky with the 1st game and it was Elite slayer. I even had time before work to run through Winter real quick on Heroic to get another towards the weekly. Now I can play some Black Ops tonight.

Huh, I played slayer pro and picked the class with the needler rifle. It comes with two plasma grenades! AND NO ARMOR LOCK!

    I beat today’s achievements in under 30 minutes…fun.

Got the vengeance and sticky challenges in one Slayer Pro on the cage and 150 kills and 10 multikills on one standard firefight on Glacier. Note that you have to actually stick your enemy to get the sticky kill, simply killing them with a grenade close to them won’t count.
