11th January – Reach Daily Challenges Commentary

Hope everyone’s enjoying this week’s challenges, so far we’ve had a good mix, and that continues today…

Shootin’ & Lootin’ – Kill 150 enemies in any game mode in Reach – 1500 cR

You’ll get this in the other challenges today, if you want to do it quickly then one game of Gruntpocalypse for 120 kills and jump into another game or campaign to pick up the rest.

Survivor – Earn 7 Sprees in a Firefight Matchmaking game – 1200 cR

Sprees are hard for weapons, especially in Firefight. I reckon Gruntpocalypse on Corvette (where else), get the 50 kills medal, then die and do another 50. You get 120 kills in Gruntpoc so it’s an easy way to do it. If you can get kills using weapons (ie 5 grenade sticks, a shotgun, sniper rifle etc) then you get nearer the total – use Score Attack to get a range of weapons. Courtyard is quite good as you can use the vehicles to get more sprees.

Put Your Quarter Up – Complete 10 games in Multiplayer Matchmaking – 2000 cR

Complete 10 games. Don’t drop out. Get to the end of each. Just play through them. Doesn’t matter if you win or lose. Sorry, I can’t drag out this explanation any further. Is there a way of doing this quickly? Infection is a very fast game type so you’ll probably get it done in 10 minutes using that.

Close Talking – Earn 40 kills with close quarters combat in multiplayer Matchmaking – 1600 cR

Close Quarters Combat is melee, assassination, Sword, Hammer and Shotgun (let me know if I’ve missed any). It’s actually my normal way of playing to shoot then melee so it should be pretty quick. The shotgun’s pretty powerful on the Asylum map, especially if you stay around the tunnels by each spawn base. The sword in Countdown and Reflection can also yield a load of kills too.

If you have any more thoughts on getting any of these please do share in the comments. This week’s looking good for lots of easy credits. I still need to do that weekly, but glad it won’t take too long, and you get a choice of map.

    Close Talking
Swat magnums – run towards someone, unload clip, pummel.
I was really relaxed last night and only did a few games, but got 20 pummels – so 40 shouldn’t be too hard to complete :]

  2. Braythor says:

Not usually one to recommend it but sniperfight’s good for the sprees challenge, as long as it’s on the right map, ie not Waterfront, nobody likes Waterfront. But Outpost is a good one, if everyone’s on the roof it’s pretty easy to get to 50 kills without dying, and by the time you’ve got that you’ll also have the 3 sniper sprees (sniper spree, sharpshooter and be the bullet), so job done.

Last time close quarters came up I was sure supercombines were being counted towards it. It’s worth trying, ‘cos if they do then elite slayer will be very helpful. If I get chance to play at all today (got guests over) I’ll try and find out for definite and post back.

What Braythor says. Sniperfight can be great for getting sprees, especially a map with nice long firing lanes or protected sniping spots. Plus, you can jack a Ghost and plow through a load of enemies just as they drop — insta-spree. Only potential problem is everyone will be working on their sprees so competition will be fierce.

  4. Throldahl says:

Definitely do Score Attack: Sniperfight. You’ll rack up your typical killing sprees in addition to the sniper medals in five kills. With unlimited ammo, you’ll get a ton of sprees. I only played one match today and scored over 20 sprees. Seven will come in no time.

  5. Chris says:

For the sprees play the FF arcade fistfight . Sword and Hammer , unlimited . Double shield . kill 15 with one , switch to the other , at 25 kills you have 7 sprees . Plus its fun .
