14th January – Reach Daily Challenges Commentary

Multiplayer Matchmaking Friday is here, go forth and multiply. Your kills.

Gunslinger – Kill 75 enemies in multiplayer Matchmaking – 1250 cR

Multi-Team battle is the place to go for lots of kills, as long as you avoid the Rocket Race variant. Crazy King and Oddball help get a high number of kills if you aren’t interested in the objective.

A Great Friend – Earn 30 assists today in multiplayer Matchmaking – 2000 cR

An assist is when you do 40% or more damage to an opponent and someone else kills them within 4 seconds. There are various ways to do this, one of the best is to team up with someone and work on taking people out together, again particularly in the Multi-Team Battle variants. I will confess I’ve still not tried Rumble Pit for assists, but every time these challenges appear it’s recommended. Other good options include an overcharged Plasma Pistol or Sniper Rifle shot to the body do more than 40% damage straight off, so you can always snipe from a camping position (ie the loft on Pinnacle) to help take people down.

Double Nickels – Earn 2 Killing Sprees in a multiplayer Matchmaking game – 1500 cR

We’ve had something similar to this before as well. As it was back then, try and get a weapon you like and aim to take out 5 guys with it. This is pure kills, not what you use, so sticking with Plasma Grenades counts, Elite Slayer could be a good option. Of course the alternative is to play something like Courtyard and snipe people from far away. Don’t get so engrossed in your scope you miss what’s happening around you though! Close Quarters often works well – camping with the Sword, Shotgun or Hammer in maps like Asylum and Powerhouse.

The Love of the Game – Complete 17 games in multiplayer Matchmaking – 2500 cR

Last time we saw this it was 20 games for 2500. It might take a bit of time but there’s no limitation on winning or weapons etc. Fastest games are often Infection as they go really quickly I find. If you want the kills for other challenges though I’d recommend Team SWAT/Slayer or Multi-Team as long as you can avoid Rocket Race! Equally, it’s a good chance to try out different variants you might not have played, so jump in BTB, Rumble Pit and Arena to see what they’re like.

So that’s Friday done. Any XBox or Halo themed weekend plans for anyone?
