19th January – Reach Daily Challenges Commentary

If you want to discuss the brand new challenge, Golden Tree City, use my previous post where I’m trying to bring together anyone’s theories and knowledge on the Gold Elite in New Alexandria. That’s quite exciting, a brand new, very difficult challenge. The others for today are really easy…

Blastin’ and Relaxin’ – Kill 180 enemies in any game mode in Reach – 2000 cR

Easy, do a Gruntpocalypse for the last challenge then pick up the rest of these whilst going for the other two.

Fourth Horseman – Earn 4 multikills in a multiplayer Matchmaking game – 1900 cR

I think Bungie are helping people work towards the weekly challenge. Crazy King and Oddball in Multi-Team are very good for this as you can aim for people working on the objective, or a Slayer game in somewhere like Reflection. Team SWAT is also excellent, especially somewhere like Sword Base. As in my Weekly Challenge Commentary, Juggernaut is excellent for multikills when you’re the Juggernaut, just go somewhere that people have to get in close and hammer them down!

Golden Tree City – Find and kill the Gold Ranger-class Elite in a Banshee, fast and low, while on New Alexandria, on Legendary – 3500 cR

As above, see my post dedicated to this challenge and finding this most elusive of all Rangers.

On the Sixth Respawn – Complete a Firefight Matchmaking game with fewer than 5 deaths – 1000 cR

Go for this in Gruntpoc and just be careful. Complete might mean kill all dudes, or just survive to the end, not sure. If it’s got to be done in full Firefight then just be careful, make sure you know your surroundings and can run if needed. Drop Shield’s a good idea too as long as you’re prepared to run away and heal if needed. 5 deaths isn’t difficult, most of you should be aiming to do it in one or less!

So go ahead and hunt down that bloomin’ BOB in New Alexandria. No one’s reported finding it so far, so today’s a pretty exciting day with an entirely new challenge and enemy to be found. I’d love this to lead to the revelation that finding all BOBs means you get a secret ending or something, but I don’t think I’m being rational there!

The sixth respawn challenge does work on Gruntpoc. Too easy!

  2. Justin says:

Where can I find Gruntpoc? I have never seen this option come up? Is this a firefight?

    • Matthew Vose says:

When you select your game type, go Co-operative, then go Score Attack. You get offered Score Attack, Gruntpocalypse and Mythic Attack on each level in sequence. Go for Corvette on Gruntpoc.

I’ve written previous posts about Score Attack – it’s pretty useful for commendations as you get waves of different enemies and have good weapon options too.

      • Justin says:

Thanks. I never played score attack, so I’ll have to give it a try.

Grif ball is the easiest one for double kills. I did my weekly in about 6 hrs playing that.

  4. Magus Shadow says:

I wanted to chime in and tell ya that they opened up Griffball in the community matchmaking tab, thus lending another easy way to get the 4 multikills in a match and helping out with the weekly challenge.

  5. I8INFI8INI8ITY says:

  6. Grifball is great for the four horsemen challenge. Just pick a hammer and start wacking ’em.

  7. Defender77 says:

Got all of them. Game of grunts, and 2 games of grifball. That’s after I did the Bob challenge. That was frustrating.

  8. Mike says:

Which comment is this targeted at?

  9. LordLiam316 says:

    ?

  10. Matthew Vose says:

Sorry guys, I thought it had deleted that. Some guy came on and started talking about his own challenge blog and putting links.
