25th January – Reach Daily Challenges Commentary

All multiplayer, all the time over here today. Some really interesting ones too which could get you trying something a bit different…

Above the Neckline – Kill 5 enemies with headshots in a multiplayer Matchmaking game – 1250 cR

Pretty much any game mode will be good for this when the DMR or Pistol are available, but by far the best is Team SWAT. Make sure you hold your reticule high for headshots, and work on a quick trigger finger!

This is My Rifle… – Earn 100 kills with precision weapons in multiplayer Matchmaking – 2000 cR

A new challenge, and it’s nice. Precision weapons are the DMR, Sniper Rifle, Focus Beam and Needle Rifle (anything that gives a headshot except the Pistol, which is a Small Arms weapon). So as above, Team SWAT will do you well here. Unless you melee every kill will be a precision weapon kill, so play it a few times, try and get a good team who will cover your back (and you theirs).

Cook ’em, Clean ’em! – Kill 20 enemies in multiplayer Matchmaking while you’re jet-packing – 1250 cR

It’s been a while since this one turned up for multiplayer. Remember you have to be actively firing the jet-pack when the person dies to register it, otherwise you’re just falling with style. Normal multiplayer games (Rumble Pit, Team and Multi Team) and just firing short bursts when you’re about to kill someone – particularly with grenades or heavy weapons. 20’s a fairly high number but at least it’s not in one game. Some useful places – grenades in Pinnacle when people are in the main loft area, Courtyard Boardwalk again in the central sniper point. Similar to the Campaign challenge, the Hammer and Sword work well with this, just use the equipment and fire buttons at the same time.

Chaddlesby’s Justice – Avenge your teammates’ deaths 5 times in multiplayer Matchmaking – 1500 cR

This can be a difficult medal to get, as you have to kill the person who killed your team mate within a few seconds of the death. My usual advice is to team up with someone and do each other a favour on the challenge. It’s a shame there’s no assist challenge today, Revenge and assists can often go hand in hand! However if Grifball is still live then that’s usually a great way to get Revenge and Avenger medals, keep an eye on your team mates, perhaps don’t rush in at the beginning and take out the guys who survive the initial melee.

Hopefully I’ll see some of you in multiplayer tonight going for these. Don’t forget to check out my weekly commentary if you’re stuff on the big LASO challenge.

    hey matthew,

great ideas for the daily’s. i especially agree with what you said about the firebird challenge. to be more specific though, multi team is probably best (especially objective gametypes), just go around getting in melee fights with everyone, press and hold LB just before the 2nd melee and u get a firebird. got 10+ firebirds in one match doing that.

“Courtyard again in the central sniper point.”

Courtyard is a firefight map. Do you mean Cliffhanger? Just curious…

You try out Crysis 2 yet, Matt?
