11th February – Reach Daily Challenges Commentary

Multiplayer Friday (as we never call it), so time to do some Grifball…

Helping Hand – Earn 10 assists today in multiplayer Matchmaking – 1600cR

Note, this is not in 1 game, so I reckon just play as normal and you’ll get there. Grifball’s good for Assists, particularly on the bomb carrier. As ever with an assist challenge, tell your team you’re going for it, and if possible pair up with someone. In Sniper game types this is very powerful as you can try to both shoot the same person in the body and one of you should get an assist.

Multiplier – Earn 5 multikills in a multiplayer Matchmaking game – 1200cR

Multi-Team, Team SWAT, Grifball or Juggernaut have repeatedly been the best for this. Grifball especially if you can get your timing in and get near your opponents spawn zone. Don’t forget multikills stack, so an Overkill (4 people) counts as 3.

A Solid Outing – Earn at least 15 kills in a multiplayer Matchmaking game – 3000cR

Best ways to get lots of kills in one game:

  • Multi Team Battle – Particularly the variants of Oddball or Crazy King as you can take out people going for the objective, but normal Slayer works well in this mode as well
  • Invasion – Depends on your skill level, but the games are long so it’s quite possible to get a lot of kills
  • Rumble Pit – Most variants help with this, bar Headhunter. Whilst the target is often only 25 you’ll find several players always getting close to the target in a game.
  • Grifball – If you get your timing right this is so easy in any Grifball game where someone grabs the bomb but doesn’t score. I’m hopeful this counts all 3 rounds as one game, so it’s even easier.
  • Team Slayer/SWAT – Again depends on your skill level, and that of your team, but it’s definitely possible to get 15 in a game without too much stress

The Love of the Game – Complete 20 games in multiplayer Matchmaking – 2500 cR

It might take a bit of time but there’s no limitation on winning or weapons etc. Fastest games are often Infection as they go really quickly I find. If you want the kills for other challenges though I’d recommend Team SWAT/Slayer or Multi-Team as long as you can avoid Rocket Race! Equally, it’s a good chance to try out different variants you might not have played, so jump in BTB, Rumble Pit and Arena to see what they’re like. And of course you can win 3 rounds of Grifball in 30 seconds if you’re just going for the bomb and the score, but it’s much more fun to hit people over the head with a hammer surely? 😀

If you have any thoughts yourselves on these challenges please add to the comments.

  1. pretty sure 1, 2, and 3 could be done in one game for one hell of a pay off.

too bad i have to wait until early tomorrow morning to get some games in with my squad, grifball solo is the pits.

For those who haven’t finished the weekly yet, I say today you just play SWAT. For the assist challenge in SWAT, just stick with a teammate and instead of going for headshots, go for body shots.

  3. Edward says:

Grifball definitely counts the rounds as one game. I got both the multi-kill challenge as the 15 kills in one game over three rounds. Looked like everyone was going for the challenges, because the ball just stayed in the middle for a long while.

Possible shout for Big Team Battle – rather unloved, but i’ve been recently getting into it. Lots of kills so long games; if you’re doing average you can still rack up lots of kills without being cut off for time like on e.g. slayer. Also – lots of vehicles spawned, tho not relevant to these challenges, worth considering if there are future ‘kill vehicles’ or similar challenges like the one the other day.

Along similar lines i wonder if dmr or plasma pistol as tank rider might be a quality assist-getter? The riders tend to paint the target for the gunner, so you could get your 40% then BOOOM, tank beats everything. Don’t need to buddy up for this one either since John Q Everyman will fire at stuff you fire at if they’re driving the tank. Which is nice for lone gamers.
