3rd March – Reach Daily Challenges Commentary

Firefight Thursday again…

Covenant-cide – Kill 120 enemies in Firefight Matchmaking – 1100 cR

Approximate kill volumes:

  • Score Attack – 100
  • Gruntpocalypse – 120
  • Fiesta Attack/2X Score Attack ~ 125
  • Firefight – Anything up to 350/400

So one game of any of these will almost get you there, I’d recommend factoring in the next challenges first then topping up if you don’t hit your 120 and you’re not doing all of them.

Weapon Swap – Earn 10 sprees in a Firefight Matchmaking game on Heroic or harder – 1000 cR

Sprees are hard for weapons, especially in Firefight. I reckon Gruntpocalypse on Corvette (where else), get the 50 kills medal, then die and do another 50. You get 120 kills in Gruntpoc so it’s an easy way to do it. Alternatively go into Score Attack (or indeed Firefight Matchmaking proper) and use the Shotgun for three, sticky grenades, Swords, Hammers and anything else you can that gives a spree (this list on Halopedia shows all Spree medals available) to top up the killing sprees as well.

A Heroic Breach – Kill 100 enemies on Corvette on Heroic in Firefight Matchmaking – 1000 cR

So Gruntpocalypse, use the platform to the left as you move from the spawn chamber and snipe the Grunts as they come towards you. Then use the corridor to funnel them if they get too much. Take out guys with the Fuel Rod Cannon, Plasma Launcher and overcharged Plasma Pistol first, and watch for Grenades. This is 7-10 mins max.

The T.G. Opposition – Kill 70 enemies in Firefight Matchmaking with the Shotgun – 1250 cR

The best way is Score Attack on any map, particularly once the Brutes and Skirmishers turn up as they make real efforts to get to you. The Shotgun is one of the loadouts so you can use it for as long as you need, just let guys come to you rather than going into the fray.

So pretty easy, and a lot of fun – I do enjoy using the Shotgun so I’ll be running around blasting Covvie dudes with it tonight!

If one is good enough, and lucky enough to get “2X Score Attack” on Corvette, all four dailies can be done in one game. The three shotgun sprees (Shotgun Spree, Open Season, Buck Wild) plus the six killing sprees (Killing Spree, Killing Frenzy, Running Riot, Rampage, Untouchable, Invincible) and add in a sticky spree. Just clean up with the 70 shotgun kills and there will be more than 120 enemies in “2X Score Attack” and you’re done.

    • Justin D says:

I agree with this, I did all four in one game easy as pie.

    • dukemeiser says:

Same here, although I died a couple of times which gave me new sprees. One game = 4350 cR

    • G says:

So frustrating! I got 2x score attack on Corvette, first try, but I think thanks to several brutes wiping each other out, I only got 117 kills on my first game. Had to jump into a new game just to get the last 3 kills for the 4th challenge!

I say frustrating… it was, until the slot machine decided to reward me with near as damnit 9000Cr for the second game.

  2. Braythor says:

Wow, the cR are really dropping for the dailys… Anyway, just wanted to throw in that fistfight is good for sprees (infinite hammer and sword as default = FUN!)

  3. Jason says:

In resonse to BRAYTHOR i couldnt agree more, i love halo and i lke to work towards challenges both weekly and daily however the low cR recently is having me wonder whether they are worth any effort at all. cmon bungie no more half-pint challenges!

  4. oooooh not bad today! urgh. i need to work on the weekly some more still too.

  5. m67reaper says:

Easy day took me about 15 minutes to do all 4. I did score attack on corvette but only got 85 enemies. Ran around with the shotty the whole time. Made the sprees a breeze. And finished up with some grunt poc or corvette as well. Was hoping for 2x score attack but didn’t get it. All is well though easy day.

  6. holymackerel87 says:

I use the same strategy on corvette… except on the right instead of the left. i can easily kill all 120 without them without being killed with 120 headshots. it’s fun and fast. and yea, i thought the cRs were higher before… oh well

  7. sam says:

just finished them, they were allrite but id rather have a higher credit win.

  8. Scott says:

I’ve gotta say, the reduced credits have had me playing far less lately. It takes so long to rank up at the higher levels, that it’s just too daunting of a task when the daily’s are only 4-5k credits. The changing challenges have been a great incentive to keep me coming back but I’ve done them so many times now that it’s getting boring. Maybe I’m just too ADD, but between the lesser payouts and repetitive challenges, I need something new!

  9. Reaperville says:

Did these very comfortably in two games – it’s nice to have the ego boost going in tomorrow’s (which I’ll probably struggle at), but I agree, a decent credit boost would also be nice!

Off tomorrow so might spend tonight replaying campaign to work on commendations – we can’t all spend our time flirting with Victoria Coren on Twitter (mentioning no names Matthew 😉 )

    • Matthew Vose says:

Everyone should have time in their day to flirt with Victoria Coren. Smart, great looking, plays poker, very witty… if she ever put that she’s great at making burgers I’m hers forever lol.

      • Reaperville says:

Burger me your standards are high – I’d eat salad for La Coren 😉

Binned solo campaign, as I’ve now realised that the cRs are disproportionately low compared to even a weak performance in a 15-min MM. Will wait to play it co-op next weekend which is more about fun & less about cRs.

  10. Tom says:

Seriously? How about we get some daily challenges I can’t get all of in one game…
