13th March – Reach Daily Challenges Commentary

The US changed their clocks last night, so the challenges come out at 10am now. I was totally prepared for this of course. Hopefully this will catch up when us in the UK put our clocks forward in two weeks.

One Spartan Army – Kill 150 enemies in Firefight Matchmaking – 1125 cR

You get 120 Grunts in Gruntpocalypse, about 100 enemies in Score Attack and something like 330 in a Firefight Matchmaking game (although split between up to 4 people). I recommend 2 Gruntpocalypse so you rattle through it quickly.

Short, Controlled Bursts – Kill 100 enemies with automatic weapons in the Campaign today – 1000 cR

Automatic weapons are those that fire repeatedly, namely the Assault Rifle, Plasma Repeater, Plasma Rifle, Needler and Spiker. In Campaign you want a mission with lots and lots of enemies quickly. As usual, Winter Contingency’s a good one as it’s not too hard, and the enemies come quickly. Stick to Normal difficulty so you don’t have to spend too long. There are tricks in some places like Rally Point Bravo on The Package where you can get a checkpoint just before a group of Grunts so you can take out 5 quickly, then restart checkpoint and do it again.

A Simple Spree – Earn any spree in Firefight Matchmaking – 1000 cR

Sprees cover a lot of options, 5 kills with Shotguns, Sniper Rifle, Plasma Grenade sticks, Swords… and so on. Frankly, 10 kills with anything gets you a spree, so just do that and you’ve got a very easy 1000 credits.

There Are Many Like… – Kill 100 enemies with precision weapons in the Campaign today – 1000 cR

Precision weapons are the DMR, Sniper Rifle, Needle Rifle and Focus Rifle (anything that can headshot except the Pistol, which is small arms, although you don’t need to headshot for the challenge). Nightfall is good, because you start with loads and loads of ammo for the Sniper Rifle, and you can shoot the first Elite in the head, restart checkpoint and do it over and over, although for 1000 that’ll get a trifle dull. Winter Contingency from Rally Point Bravo which has DMRs in the base and lots of guys dropped off to shoot at you. I think ONI Sword Base also starts off with the DMR as well.

So the challenges will appear at 10am UK time for the time being, then in a couple of weeks should shift back to 11am.

Real talk da only reason y i have stopped playing reach is because bungie is giving us way toooo easy challenges and very litlle Cr for dem…dis game is prty boring now for me…i dont see my selfe coming back to play dis game soon…i guess until dey give us more Cr and atleast harder daily challenges…

    Anyone feel da same ?

And talk bout da time change..i woke up thinkin i woke up extra late for church ! lol

      • spacehonky says:

I would be more concerned about being late for school based on “da” comments you wrote.

    • Matthew Vose says:

If all you’re playing ‘da’ game for is the challenges then it’s definitely time you find something else – the challenges aren’t the be all and end all of a game like Reach. If the game isn’t grabbing you still there are lots of quality games out there to try.

  2. Jetpack333 says:

Just do the lone wolf campaign mission for both challenges.
U get an automatic gun n dmr I believe

  3. Coolguy says:

Gosh guys….lol you really got on this kids back just because he was saying “da” instead of “the”…..haha just chill guys hes just saying his opinion

    • meh, i’m plenty “chill” but i am also pretty tired of seeing the same old “it’s too eaaaasy” or “it’s too haaaaaard” crap being thrown around constantly. he can have his opinion but to comment on the blog that matthew keeps up is pretty pointless because most of us who read/comment still enjoy the game.

not to mention, “da” text speak makes my head hurt. i mean, does it really take THAT much longer to type out “the” instead of “da?” it’s one extra letter, use it. and we won’t touch the rest of the kid’s post.

    • Matthew Vose says:

Yes, what really got me was not only not typing ‘the’ or ‘this’, but putting extra letters in too. I can understand text speak when you’re trying to fit in 160 characters (or 140 for Tweeters) using a rubbishy phone keypad like I had to 12 years ago. But this is the future, and commenting on a blog post shouldn’t require it. Personal opinion anyway.

    • rippy says:

I’d, personally, like to punch him in the face for talking like that.

  4. michael says:

To me it really doesnt matter what the challenges are. Granted there are some of them that i really hate but im still gonna do them, or atleast try to. Matthew is right, if your playing the game just for the challenges then its time to move on. For the campaign challenges i usually do Oni Sword Base. You start with an automatic and dmr. I usually go through the first part til i get the first checkpoint, then restart mission. Its pretty quick too. Well have a wonderful day guys!

  5. brightenheezy says:

i’m getting tired of these shitty cR payouts….quit being gay bungie

    • tommies12 says:

Sounds like you and Jose would be great friends, brightenheezy… There have been some good challenges the past week that have had decent cR payouts but there have also been some challenges that haven’t paid out enough cR to do it justice. Either way, this is a personal blog that offers insights into how to complete the challenges each day and *NOT* a Bungie site so what good is your complaint going to do here?

      • brightenheezy says:

And i would have contributed, but A. plenty of feedback was given for the challenges and B. the challenges were pretty self-explanatory…and this is also a place for opinions. I don’t know how many times I have seen guys flash their birthdays on here like anyone really cares. Why don’t you just deal with it and shut your mouth. Thanks.

      • huh??? contributed what??? pot, meet kettle.

this isn’t a blog to bitch about bungie, go elsewhere for that. comments like yours are not helpful, supportive, and *I* don’t find them welcome. of course it’s not my blog but i’m SO.TIRED. of seeing comments like this. no one is making you

        1. read the blog
        2. complete the challenges
        3. play Halo: Reach

      • tommies12 says:

“Why don’t you just deal with it and shut your mouth. Thanks.”

Sounds like you should have taken your own advice before you posted. What good is your complaint about cR payouts and Bungie going to do on this blog? Especially when plenty of other people have made the exact same complaint several times prior to yours. I don’t know how many times I have seen guys *post their complaints about cR payouts* on here like anyone really cares.

If you feel like a certain challenge doesn’t pay out enough cR for your work then maybe you should try to enjoy the game a little bit more or decide to start playing a different game.

  6. BS Diablo says:

For the first week ever, I have completed all Daily and Weekly Challenges! Last week I missed one Daily Challenge on Sunday… Destroy 10 enemy vehicles in FireFight. I was hoping for a brownie button or a boy scout merit badge for this but to no avail. \m/.
