27th March – Halo Reach Daily Challenge Commentary

Here’s today’s challenges:

Blastin’ and Relaxin’ – kill 180 enemies in any game mode in Reach (1350 cR)

Ok, so this isnt the most tricky of challenges, particularly given that if you’re challenge hunting, you’re going to be playing a little firefight…

  • Gruntpocolypse – approximately 125 grunts in one handy dandy firefight session just watch out for those AI betrayals for stealing your kills
  • Firefight – Download IGN’s Firefight Invincible game type on my File Share, lots of Elites, lots of medals, lots of kills

For those who arent playing firefight or need to mop up a few more kills:

  • ONI: Sword Base – Use the Target Designator trick (run past everyone at the beginning, grab it, turn around, fire, wait for the killing to stop and restart the checkpoint)
  • The Package – There are points where you can get a checkpoint just before a number of Grunts appear in the final battle, so you can gun them down and restart

The Little Guys – kill75 Grunts in Campaign today on Normal or harder (1000 cR)

It feels like its been a little while since we had this one so I checked back to Matthew’s previous challenge commentary:

Winter Contingency, Exodus or The Package are excellent for Grunts. There have been some suggestions for the opening of ONI Sword Base – go straight to the Target Designator, turn around and blast some Grunts, then reset to checkpoint. It’s a quick way of doing it as well as  something similar on The Package, throwing a grenade just before the checkpoint so that every time you reset it goes off and takes out a few Grunts. Let me know if you have any other great suggestions.

Weapon Swap – earn 10 sprees in a Firefight Matchmaking game on Heroic or harder (1000 cR)

Sprees are hard for weapons, especially in Firefight.

I reckon Gruntpocalypse on Corvette or Courtyard, get the 50 kills medal, then die and do another 50. You get 120 kills in Gruntpoc so it’s an easy way to do it. Alternatively go into Score Attack (or indeed Firefight Matchmaking proper) and use the Shotgun for three, sticky grenades, Swords, Hammers and anything else you can that gives a spree (this list on Halopedia shows all Spree medals available) to top up the killing sprees as well.

If you have the DLC taking the rocket hog for a spin with a friend in Firefight Arcade is definitely worth doing; splatter sprees / assist sprees also count.

Killing Spree – earn a killing spree in multiplayer matchmaking (1000 cR)

This should apply to any spree, not just kills. So you can get sprees using:

  • Hammer
  • Shotgun
  • Sniper Rifle
  • Plasma Grenade sticks
  • Sword
  • Vehicles (two here – kills in vehicle where you do the killing, and kills as driver with passenger killing)
  • Spartan Laser
  • Assists
  • Some for specific variants of Juggernaut, Invasion and Infection

Check ot for everything, especially as you can get 3 spree medals for each type.

My recommendation – go for a weapon that allows you an easy spree, personally a Shotgun or Sword work for me. If you can take out 5 dudes you should get two sprees – one for 5 kills and one for the weapon so that’s a good place to start.

Thanks guys and have a super fab Sunday ❤

Weapon Swap it’s easy to do on fist fight, you have hammer and there a lots of little enemy that can give you an hammer spree

These challenges are pretty easy. we should have these done in just a few games. The Ordinance weapon challenge from yesterday had me frustrated because i got like 4 kills with them in each game, thats it. I finally gave up on it around 2:00am this morning. I even tried rocket hog race a few times with a friend and STILL couldnt get it. It sucks that the warthog rockets dont count towards it since i got 16 kills with it in one game. Oh well, im just ready to see what the next weekly challenge is. Myself i hope its a laso one. 🙂

The only three sprees that aren’t also killing sprees are spawn, assist, and wheelman. If all you need is one killing spree in matchmaking, then picking a special weapon to do it with is not necessary.

I prefer 2x Score Attack for getting sprees as I find it pretty easy to do without having to kill yourself in Gruntpoc, as well as the main killing sprees you can get a stick spree with easy on the third wave brutes and a sword spree from the final wave of elites. There may be a hammer in the third wave although that seems fairly random, there’s the sniper rifle as heavy ordinance for a sniper spree On Beachhead there’s the ghost for vehicle kills as well as potential Wraiths/ghosts on other levels although I don’t find you need them that to get the 10.

For the grunts, I like lone wolf myself. Grab a turret and bubble shield and run around. I got 20 before I died each time. Then just start over. Short and sweet!!

The Little Guys – kill75 Grunts in Campaign today on Normal or harder. Winter Contingency – Rally Point Bravo This is by far one of the best places for this Daily Challenge. You will get 20 – 25 grunts before the blast door closes. Then simply Revert to Last Save and do it again. It shouldn’t take more than 10 minutes to complete. This is also a great location for you Precision Weapon, Automatic Weapon, Small Arms, Grenade and Super Combine kills. These is always plenty of weapons to pick up and lots of grenades. Good luck Spartans!

Well i got these challenges finished within about 30 min. They were some of the easiest challenges i have seen all together like that. Does anyone have any guesses on what the new weekly will be? I think some people are saying that it might be Long Night Of Solace (LASO). Myself i hope it is. I really enjoy the LASO challenges because it gets me to play some of the awesome campaign again. The only bad thing about it is that i spend so much time on it. Well everyone have a great day! 🙂

I used rally pt B of The Package. Run down to the left and take the ramps to what looks like the Glazier ff map. Anyhow run up and hide behind small rock on left and you’ll see a drop ship up ahead. Stay put because 8-10 grunts are heading your way and a checkpoint hits too. Kill the grunts and revert to save. Was done in 5.
