9th April – Reach Daily Challenges Commentary

Another nice mix today, and the baby version of one of yesterday’s…

Covenant-cide – Kill 120 enemies in Firefight Matchmaking – 1100 cR

So you could do this in one game of Gruntpocalypse, 2X Score Attack or some of the other variants. Why am I going for Gruntpoc as the best option? Because it’s got easy enemies to take out and a really quick game type to play through (and who wants to be taking on Brutes or Elites with a pistol for the next challenge when you can stick to Grunts). If you’re worried about not quite hitting the 120 due to Plasma grenades then play Waterfront and snipe the cliff Jackals with your DMR.

Now I have a Machine Gun – Earn 40 kills with automatic weapons in multiplayer Matchmaking – 1300 cR

Your multiplayer automatic weapons are the Assault Rifle, Needler, Plasma Repeater and Plasma Rifle. I’d recommend Team Slayer in Elite Slayer, so that you can use the Needler to take guys out. Rumble Pit can be really helpful too running around blazing the AR, but it’s tempting to pick up other weapons.

Not as Clumsy or Random… – Earn 5 kills with Precision Weapons in a multiplayer Matchmaking game – 1000 cR

When it’s a Star Wars reference about Lightsabers you know it’s also going to be a Precision weapon challenge. Jump into a Team SWAT match, take out some guys and it’s an easy top up of 1000 credits. If you want you can get it in any game you’re also going for the previous challenge and just getting your 5 then swapping to an Automatic weapon.

Just a Shower – Complete any Campaign mission on Normal or harder with Thunderstorm on – 2000 cR

Thunderstorm ups the rank of enemies, so Grunts usually have helmets, Elites are smarter and so on. As usual with a Campaign challenge go for Winter Contingency if you want to play a quick level, or Nightfall if you want to speed run through and use the Forklift trick to do it super quick.

Pretty easy today, but lots of variety in the methods to get them which we all like.

As a heads up, last time i did the nightfall forklift trick the enemies all spawned instantly – dunno if this means its been patched or if it was just me for some reason..
Still a bit easier than normally is, but can catch you unawares.

It worked as usual for me this morning , took a bit of manoeuvring but then I drive a forklift like a girl ! , covies weren’t triggered after the gates.

Before V4 or Snickerdoodle see that, I’m going to make an assumption that you mean ‘drive a forklift like Kat’ 😀

      • he better mean kat! for the record, i have yet to drive my Noble team off the cliff or betray them while they’re hiding…

      • Chris says:

God bless you Mr Vose , but remember what assumption is the mother of !

sometimes you don’t even need bait on the hook 🙂

You’ve obviously never tried baiting these ladies – there might be only a handful of women in Halo games, but we’re always outnumbered, and they never lose. XD

    • Lex says:

If you play with more than one person and the covenant start shooting at you while you go through the gate it triggers the enemies to spawn you just have to be extra sneaky. Also I believe if one of the elites in the back of the base sees you the enemies also spawn but that’s very unlikely unles you go in guns blazing or Jun is a dick and gives away your position lol.

Didn’t we have Just A Shower a few days ago? I think I still have my Campaign save right at the end of Nightfall. Well, that’s an easy 2000! 😉

These challenges are *easy* today. Multi-Team is probably the best for the automatic weapons one, btw 🙂

  3. Eric says:

Pretty easy mix of challenges today, but pretty lousy cR payouts. I always like to see one or two challenges in the 2500-5000 range, especially on the weekends when I usually have a little more time to play. I’m halway to General, damnit, I need more cR!!! lol

    • my guess would be that they’re making the challenges fairly easy to give people a chance to work on the LASO….

      • Eric says:

Good point. I usually steer clear of the LASO challenges because my highly refined style of gameplay that I call “run right in and go nuts” doesn’t work well with LASO. lol

    • Eric says:

      *halfway…oops

  4. Agoldsniper says:

Anyone know if the turret counts as automatic weapon?

  5. michael says:

Remember everyone if you started on the LASO challenge and didnt make it all the way and saved it, then tried to do the Just A Shower challenge on a different level, it will erase your saved progress on LNOS. Just thought i would throw that out there. Theres one challenge on here i probably wont be getting, the 40 kills with automatic weapons. Seems like when i actually do use the AR i wind up shooting them, getting close, then melee kill. So i think i will let this one pass me by. Good luck on the challenges!

I spent a couple hours yesterday incrementally working through the weekly and used the hell out of Save and Exit. I got too comfortable with it and instead of Save, selected Restart Mission. Needless to say, I threw in the towel. I’ll restart it today after Just a Shower is complete, but man, what a pain in the ass.

I consider myself a LNOS expert now.

      • higglestein says:

I know exactally what you mean Tim. I bet i did save and exit well over 100 times. I spent probably atleast 15 or so hours on it in 2 days. lol. Hope you get it!

      • Chris says:

Yeah, LASO was tough. I never thought I would get through the one room with 4 grunts, 4 elites, and 1 general. It took a lot of time and frustration, but it is possible. The rest of the level is also a lot easier after that room as well. I recommend playing it co-op though.

      • michael says:

Myself i prefer to do the LASO challenges alone. I only have a couple of friends that i actually play with and it seems like when i do the LASO challenges with them they either die every few seconds or we make it over half way through it and get to a part that is tough and they want to give up. Im definately not saying im good at this game cause im the first person to say that i suck but when i start something like this i stick with it. The Winter Contingency LASO challenge i spent probably around 20 hours on all week. lol. I guess i need to find some more people that i can do the LASO challenges with.

  6. Pirate Drummer says:

I’m stuck on the Corvette on the part just after you land and have to clear the comm room. It’s so much easier in co-op, but no one I know wants to even try. 😦

    • Chris says:

Join the club matey , not as easy as he makes it look in the vid.!

Just remember “If at first you don’t succeed just give up your never going to do it” and someone famous said that !

      Hope I’ve helped a little 🙂
