10th April – Reach Daily Challenges Commentary

Not many credits for today’s, but equally you’ll pick them up in 30 mins max if you follow the commentaries, leaving plenty of time for Action Sack (mmmm HaloBall Extreme) or finishing that darned LASO…

One Spartan Army – Kill 100 enemies in Firefight Matchmaking – 1000 cR

3 months since we had this low a target on this challenge. You get 120 Grunts in Gruntpocalypse, about 100 enemies in Score Attack and something like 330 in a Firefight Matchmaking game (although split between up to 4 people). So jump into some sort of Score Attack variant to get this really quickly, especially one with lots of grenade opportunities for the third challenge.

Return of the Mack – Kill 50 Elites in the Campaign today on Normal or harder – 1700 cR

There are two good ways of getting this – ONI: Sword Base, where just playing through there are 30-40 I think, and it’s definitely worth using the target designator at the beginning on the first group (run hugging the left wall, grab the TD, turn around and blast, then reset to last checkpoint). Or play Nightfall and try to get a checkpoint near the first Elite, then snipe or assassinate him, and again reset to last checkpoint. This is quicker but you get more kills and commendations on the ONI TD trick.

Blast Radius – Kill 40 enemies in Firefight Matchmaking with Grenades – 1000 cR

Several strategies for you here – Gruntpocalypse on Corvette and throw grenades at the Grunt spawn rooms (particularly those to the left and right of the ramps opposite your spawn room), then when you get grenades from the Grunts you kill use grenades when they come into the pinch point corridors. Or play Firefight on Courtyard, run to the left out of the spawn room and from the terrace you can usually get up to 5 or 6 dudes with grenades when they’re dropped off. Or play Nadefight where you get lots of grenades when you spawn. Or play 2X Score Attack and use grenades to bomb the spawn/dropship points when a load of guys are dropped off. Hopefully you can pick up this one in the same game you get the first challenge.

Go Right Ahead Folks – Earn a First Strike in a multiplayer Matchmaking game – 1000 cR

think Team SWAT, Grifball or Infection are good game types to get this in. Infection & Grifball particularly because you get a First Strike in every round, so it’s giving you a good chance to pick up the medal. In Team SWAT, Asylum, Countdown or Sword Base are good for picking it up. On Asylum, zoom your DMR through the central arena and watch for the opposite team coming down their ramp. Countdown you can look through the central area and see the opposite team there, and on Sword Base go to the top of the green lift if you’re red, as blues usually come up the lift first. If you’re blue then go to the ramp up from your starting point as you can often snipe someone who doesn’t expect it.

And as a special treat I found this video this morning that you might have seen already, but given how much I imitate this guy in random situations made me smile…

LOL @ the video. “YOU SUCK!” Should have totally made the cut for the game.

Hah anyway, incredibly easy challenges today. Like Matthew said, 30 mins or so should get you about all of these.

    Goodluck everyone!

The First-Elite-on-Nightfall-Checkpoint method works like a treat for the Mack one. Took 2 mins of pretty much one handed action. Oo-er missus.
