Endure: The Return – Complete four sets on any Firefight map in co-op play on Heroic or harder – 10000 cR

Endure? Anyone else get the reference? So if you got this achievement in ODST you’ll know what it’s about.
My very first thought is ‘it doesn’t say Matchmaking’ – which implies there’s a possibility of doing this with two players or more in co-op on a hand made game type. So select the Firefight option from the main menu, get a squad together and jump into a game. A set is 4 rounds (3 normal and a bonus), and a normal round is 5 waves. So 64 waves when you consider the bonus a wave and you’re done.
You can change all the settings yourself quite easily, if you want it quickly done download my Firefight Invincible game type from Bungie.net and have fun wiping wave after wave of Elite Squad from the face of Reach (or the skies if you do the recommended and play on Corvette). Squad up with some buddies and just play through it.
Update – One of the key things we found yesterday if you should keep playing into the fifth set – the game doesn’t seem to recognise the end of the fourth until you’ve moved on. In fact it’s better to just keep playing until it tells you it’s completed, just to be sure.
There are ways of speeding it up – obviously infinite health, shields, very powerful weapons and weak enemies are good. Grunts can come out faster and be easier to kill.
To the guy who posted his fast gametype a few times a while ago – this is the point to pimp it out my friend.

YES! YOU CAN! I have my “1,000,000 points in 10 minutes” firefight gametype loaded, and the Endure: The Return” challenge is still highlighted which means it’s valid for achieving during that match!
It works if you co-op with a guest controller as well.
Yes, but you run the risk of being banned. Not sure quite how it carries into the Firefight option but I wouldn’t risk it until we have some sort of proof it’s okay.
I just finished my match, and it worked out just fine. Half an hour’s work for 10,000 credits isn’t bad!
Heck, with the invincibility turned on, you can make it ‘legit’ by running around with your guest controller for a wave, then your account for a wave and so on and so forth.
Why would you get banned for it?
Their network is clever enough to see people “boosting” with inactive 2nd, 3rd or 4th players (depending on how many controllers you connect) and you get punished for it

Same with me. I spent an hour on this cause I don’t have a speed game type set up, so it took 15 minutes a set. And I didn’t get the challenge. Maybe the thing is glitched or something
it didnt work
if your doing it with your custom firefight, you have to set it for 5 rounds. you will beat 4 rounds then when it hits 5 you have completed the challenge.
custom firefight map – all grunts, invulnerable, no bonus round, rocket launcher + fuel rod load out. get yourself and 3 friends on corvette and you’ll have this in around 25 minutes
Can’t believe how easy this is… I also suggest increased speed for your Spartan, and jet-pack in the loadout just for quick access to any enemies hiding up top.
Anyway, if anyone else wants to grind this out as quickly as possible later today, add me, GT is the same as my name on here. Should be on in a few hours from now 🙂
Just completed the challenge using my special firefight map. I did not tweak any settings, so it took me 40 minutes for the 4 sets. I dare say you can make each round go faster.
I’ll probably grind it out with a friend on split screen co-op.
You would think that it would be ok to sign in a guest controller and leave it idle the whole time since its a Firefight Custom game. I remember Back when we had the challenge where we could use the Firefight Custom gametype, I remember i played with a couple of my friends while i just sat there in the game doing nothing since i already had the challenge. So i would think it is ok to AFK in a custom game, or atleast i hope. I am going to do this challenge in a little while with a guest signed in and im not going to move the guest at all til the challenge is over just to see. : /
Here is how to do it.
While in your Halo Reach, do a file search on Gamer “Ender Xer0”, then download his game “ENDURE: The Return”.
Play it in firefight (don’t forget to plug in an extra controller – no need for the extra id to be a gold member).
Play through the 4 rounds, and you got the 10k.
I did what you said and complete about 8 rounds and the challenge still never said completed so I ended the game and it still wasnt there. did I do something wrong? Thanks

I did it in 36 minutes with an unmanned second controller. Did a Gruntpocalypse (or as I named it “Exterminator” after the below custom settings).
Play on Corvette with your favorite heavy weapon. I did rockets.
Bottomless cup of ammo
Infinite armor ability usage with the jetpack
Low grave
Inviability
Disable drop ships
15 second bonus rounds
Just start it up move to the center of the hanger and just keep jetpacking in the air from the middle there. You will have a almost clear line of sight on all 6 doors. You can rest your jetpacking between rounds. Bonus rounds will go by so fast that sometimes the grunts wont even be able to shoot at you before they fall over dead.
The Weekly wont pop until you start the 5 set. Just like in ODST. Only you will have wasted around 30 minutes of your time rather than 2 hours.
Oh, and yes get your friends in on the game to cut the time down to 20 minutes or less for this weekly.

Sorry, I wrote that bit out, then scrapped the post because I didn’t like it but forgot to add the detail in – I’ve added it again, but basically a set is 3 normal rounds and one bonus round.

Wow! I can’t believe Bungie is making the weekly challenge so easy. Oh well… I will proudly take it. I don’t have many friends who have Halo Reach, so I guess I will have to get my girlfriend’s son to co-op with me, later this afternoon.
..just plug in a spare controller.
Thanks to whoever came up with this challenge. A warning, though: I did this in local co-op using the invincible download and I’m pretty sure I didn’t get the 10,000 cR. I did get the achievements though, so that’s something.

Things I have to ask: Are you playing co-op? Is difficulty Legendary or Heroic? Are you completing 4 sets? The gap between saying you’d completed it twice and then three times seemed awfully short.

Ok TWO THINGS you need to make sure:
1. Be sure there is a second player with you (it may be just a controller logged in)
2. Go for 5 sets in your game options. The game might end to early with 4 sets, but with 5, you can just leave the game when you get the credits after four rounds.
Modded gametypes do not work me and my friends tryed it and it did not work.
Modded game types definitely work as several of us have already completed this using them. Check your difficulty setting and make sure you’re completing four full sets.
Best to select the challenge from the list so it takes you to correct area then select your mod version of ff and then check that the challenge is highlighted (ie active ) after you start the game. Otherwise as they say your pi**ing in the wind . 🙂

Maybe dumb question…everybody is talking about doing this with a custom game etc, but you CAN do this in Firefight Matchmaking, right? That still counts as co-op doesn’t it? Sure, it’ll take longer but I feel like there will be enough Fire dailies this week that the weekly will take care of itself.
Jump into Matchmaking, pause and check the challenges to see if it’s still available to complete – then report back if the challenge was active or not please.
Good idea, but don’t hold your breath, I won’t be able to do that until this evening. Someone else want to check it out?
SO- I just did a Firefight Arcade match and it did NOT say that the challenge could not be completed currently. So we’ll see what happens.
“on any Firefight map”… i think this has to be done in one game. Firefight limited only lets you do 1 Set. Not played Firefight classic so don’t know if it can be done in that…
No, since FF Matchmaking is only 1 set per game.
True, but I didn’t interpret the wording of the challenge to mean it had to be in one game. To me the wording doesn’t preclude doing 4 separate arcade matches on one map and still getting it. But if others are sure, I believe them.
I just finished the challenge. When i checked the challenge at the pause screen and i had completed it i was on wave 66, round 12, set 4.

I used the IGN Firefight by Kidriver. Atleast thats what i think it said his name was. I just changed it to no Dropships, 15 second bonus rounds and put some Elites in there in place of Grunts.

As mentioned before, you have to go into the 5th set for it to switch over and finish the challenge. That sort of glaring error is really weird for Bungie to make, but that’s just the way it is.

Don’t just set it to 4 sets, because that doesn’t work. Set it to 5 sets, finish the 4th, and let it start the 5th set. Once the 5th set starts, you will get the challenge and the +10000 credits thing will pop up and you can end the game. I found this out the hard way, but luckily we sped things up and got it knocked out in 20 minutes both times.

Mine didnt work either, and trust me i did it right, ballllllls.
i just did this earlier and doing it in a custom FF game with friends DOES work. make sure you play into the next round, our “challenge complete” didn’t pop up until we’d started a new round.

Worked perfectly! Had a lot of fun killing those Hunters in low grav with my bro. Didn’t know you could make it so the guns didn’t have to reload! Sick!!!

I gotta agree that the custom game setup from Ender Xer0 works. The problem is your custom game is setup for maximum points, not to finish rounds . Ender’s custom settings are set up for finishing rounds, so the game goes a lot faster. I did it the Endure Return challenge this morning with a friend, using those settings, and it took me about 17 minutes, tops.
Well that was easy. Wonder how many that didnt have it, got the 1,000,000 point achievement while grinding this out.
Just completed this with a friend. Got all the achievements. Using Lore’s file, took exactly 30 minutes for 2 people to get just about 1 million each, but that also includes the legendary challenge as well.
I did not have it so it worked out well. thx for the file

To put it simply:
1- Download the game type above
2- Load it up in Firefight – make sure you’re playing with a second controller logged in, or a friend online. Play on Corvette because it’s the smallest map and you can hit the Covenant spawn points pretty easily.
3- Play, play, play. You need to complete four sets (which will be four bonus rounds), and the fifth set needs to start before the challenge registers as complete. Depending on how you play it and how many of you there are, this could take up to 40 minutes to complete.
If you do that, this *will* work.
I’d help you guys out but I already did it yesterday with someone off here, and it’s not that much fun as far as challenges go so I have no real desire to go through it again if I’m not getting any credits! 😉

Did the weekly yesterday. Used a firefight (custom) gametype – not sure the exact file, but it was one of the “1,000,000 Points in 10 Minutes” type games. Legendary on Corvette. Don’t know which skulls were on – I didn’t change any settings. Weapons were FRG and Launcher, by default, and Invulnerable was on for sure.
Enemies were all elites (the bright yellow/gold ones – not certain of rank). One shot with FRG was enough to kill them, and the bonus rounds were FLOODED with enemies, so you just keep blasting lol.
As stated in other posts, I did the challenge with two controllers plugged in. First two sets I switched up controllers alone, girlfriend played last two sets (I was using her account for the second controller anyway). It’s possibly important to note that the weekly didn’t complete until the start of the fifth wave, as previously mentioned by others – but more importantly, there was no indication when it happened, and the only way I knew to check was that my girlfriend’s account had the popup for earning the “One Down, 51 To Go” achievement for completing a weekly challenge.
So before you get frustrated and smash the controller down, be sure to hit start and check to see if the challenge is complete or not lol. If I hadn’t been playing with someone who didn’t have the achievement for a weekly, I wouldn’t have had any indication at all that I had completed the weekly challenge.

Did the Challenge yesterday with my own gametype and an empty controller. I switched it up every so often, but used my own more. It only takes an hour or so. I also ended up getting Unfrigginbelievable!
This challenge is not that complicated. I am not sure why you all are having issues with it.
First off, look at the file that Lore has allowed us all to download.
Look at the settings. Learn about what it is and what he did so you dont need to rely on someone else to be able to complete the challenges. Its good to pool our information, but wouldnt it better to figure it our for your self.
You dont need to search for any files as mentioned above, if you want to the game to move faster, change the enemy from Elite to grunts.
Also, as mentioned above, wait until it the screen pops up telling you that you completed the challenge. DO NOT QUIT until you see it. Once you start the 5th set, after the 4th bonus round, it will take a moment to show up. Hit the start button and see if the challenge is highlighted white or if it says completed.
This file is great for the achievements and this challenge. Especially if you can figure how to change it up.
Using the second controller is a great option if you have no else to play with. Might take longer, but the achievements will come quickly.
Me and a friend did this in 30 minutes exactly. We dragged it out so he could get all of his achievements completed.
I am not sure why this is, but you dont get to keep any of the medals that you earn in these games.
I checked all over bungie.net profile and I could not find them.
I got the 15 sticky, head shots, etc.. all no where to be found. i dont think we can post pictures here and not to sure with the links either. so I will just post the info on my site.
I think i will make a video for youtube on setting up this challenge.
The medals are in your profile, but you need to change the drop-down list to “Custom Game” to see them.
They don’t appear , least not for me (shows me as having only ever played one custom game ) , which is understandable with invincibility,over powered weapons etc be like awarding medals for cheating the game .Not a lot of skill involved in this challenge so why would you award medals as well ?

Strange though. Here’s my info: you can see that I got an inconceivable medal, which you can only get in a custom game (kill 500 without dying).

Finished the weekly yesterday. I was paranoid about using an empty second controller so convinced the wife to play. After 2 or 3 minutes of her running in circles with her gun in the air, she actually did quite well and we had a blast. Of course, it helped being invincible thanks to the handy game type I downloaded from Matt (thanks btw, and I also sent a friend request from SMRT123 if you ever feel like playing some multiplayer!). After i showed her how to melee we ended up in a boxing match for a solid couple of minutes which escalated into a gunfight and then grenade war. When all was said and done I realized I was only 16 kills from the unfrigginbelievable medal… guess I’ll have to convince her to play again sometime!
Please if anyone is out there my tag is Spencer6213 and I’m starting to get desperate, I already have a gametype ready to go and any help is greatly appreciated. I know it takes time, but this is the easiest 10,000 cR ever.
Ready and willing here if anyone else is to give this challenge a go – I’m on UK time so will probably be available for a couple more hours tonight and tomorrow evening as well. Would prefer doing a non-invincible game type but will settle for just getting it done.
