Commentary follows after the break…

One Spartan Army – Kill 150 enemies in Firefight Matchmaking – 1125 cR

You get 120 Grunts in Gruntpocalypse, about 100 enemies in Score Attack and something like 330 in a Firefight Matchmaking game (although split between up to 4 people). There was a great comment a while ago (sorry I can’t remember who said it) that if you need to ‘top up’ your FF kills, jump into a game of Generator Defense or Crashsite and once you have your kills give up the defense. That’s a great idea in situations like this. For today jump through Score Attack to try for the other FF challenge then return to this as necessary.

Cook ’em, Clean ’em – Kill 10 enemies in multiplayer Matchmaking while you’re jet-packing – 1200 cR

Remember you have to be actively firing the jet-pack when the person dies to register it, otherwise you’re just falling with style. We used to get this challenge quite regularly, this is the first time we’ve seen it in 3 months, and now, there’s a mode that’s perfect for it. Allow me to introduce you to Action Sack – Dinoblasters. Jet Pack, Concussion Rifle, unlimited clip. So go to that mode straight away, get everyone to vote for it and have a blast. It’s been a favourite of the RDC Game Nights so far, and I think if you’ve not tried it you’ll probably like it.

Katanarama – Kill 5 enemies using the Energy Sword in Firefight Matchmaking – 1500 cR

We’ve had this challenge once ever, on my sister’s wedding day at the end of November (I don’t think the challenge is linked to that). The easiest way I see of getting this is playing score attack and getting to the Elite generals at the end. One of them carries a sword, and will of course rush you. Once you’ve taken him out, grab the sword then go after his buddies. It’ll take more than one hit but keep at it and you’ll take them down. Not the easiest but you get 500 cR more for it this time than you did in Nov.

Credits for Completion – Complete 4 games in multiplayer Matchmaking – 1200 cR

This is just completion, not wins, so easy to do. Two good options for this – play Living Dead – Infection for some really fast games, or Grifball and score with the bomb really quickly

Have a read of the updated RDC Game Night hub page (we’ll keep the URL static so feel free to bookmark it and visit), where we’re looking for Party Leaders and any good suggestions for game types or things to do.

  1. Sergeant Jinto says:

Actually, the best place to get an Energy Sword in Firefight Matchmaking is 2x Score attack. At least one, if not more, of the invisible Elites will be carrying a sword during the final wave, and there’s still plenty more Elites to kill afterwards.

  2. Scruff UK says:

Another good place for energy swords is Fiestafight, but you might have to die a few times to get the sword.

Also as far as the MM ones go, play as many games as you can in Action Sack, for it is Super Jackpot Weekend. 11,000 cR jackpots (plus up to 3,000 cR as a ‘normal’ jackpot) per player per day. Also plenty of games in Action Sack that are great for the Revenge medals!

    • Tom says:

Yesh, though I played a heap of Action Sack today and didn’t get a single 3,000 cR bonus, when most weekends I get a few, so that was lame.

      • Scruff UK says:

But did you get 11,000 cR? 11,000-14,000 is better than 3,000! 😉

Arena, Squad Slayer and Defiant playlists are all giving double jackpots (6,000) all week. And you can get that more than once each day 🙂

      • Tom says:

No. I didn’t get 11,000 either. I got big fat nothing (bar my normal credits for the dailies + completing the games aaaaand the 7,777 for the weekly).

      • Scruff UK says:

Hmm. 6 games of Action Sack today, and though I did get one 3,000 cR bonus, I’ve not had the 11k yet. Only took me two games of BTB each day last weekend to get the super jackpots then. Stupid Action Sack…

  3. Braythor says:

Phew, for a moment there I misread the third challenge as multiplayer not firefight and thought it was some sick joke intended to promote To the Death. Thankfully it’s not, and another good mode for it is fistfight if you can get on it.

    • Sergeant Jinto says:

Haha, I’d done the same thing, and was thinking that I’d have to go play some Living Dead for a while.

    • John says:

Yet bizarrely people are still choosing to the death over jetpack games?? I don’t understand the gametype at all, it just seems completely pointless…keep battering the trigger or melee button until the die…and repeat painfully over and over again.

Oh and it looks like another non-jetpack game..11th in a row now, does no-one else want this challenge?!

  4. Stephie says:

Imo the best way to get 5 kills with the energy sword is just on Fistfight in Firefight Arcade. If everyone votes, then bam you already have the sword and can work on that and the 150 enemies simultaneously. Dunno how regularly Fistfight comes up as an option though.

    • Scruff UK says:

It’s definitely the quickest way; however there is no commendation for melee attacks in FF, and a lot of people – myself included – want to work on their commendations whilst playing FF. So Fistfight would be great if you’re not fussed about commendations; if you are then 2x Score Attack of Fiestafight are best 🙂

    • John says:

Unless you’re with a party, I doubt you’ll get Fistfight any time soon. It’s one of my favourite modes but no-one seems to vote for it instead favouring FRG or rocket attack.

My recommendation would be 2x Score Attack, you can easily bulldoze through the four waves of weakened enemies then for the final wave you’ll get flooded with weakened elites a few of which are packing energy swords making five kills easy.

Also I think it’s 120 enemies in 2x Score Attack plus however many drop pods come down to give a few more.

    • sovgaz says:

i second fightfight. i finished this unknowingly because i actually got 3 fistfight games in a row in arcade.. because i think everyone had this same idea..

      • Scruff UK says:

Considering it’s 5 kills each and there are like 330 enemies in an Arcade game… Surely you all got the challenge done in the first game?!

  5. hoellenhamster says:

It seems like I am the only one who thought “Arcade Fight”! Why? You can do the 5 Swordkills when the elite generals come during the final wave of round 1 and change to a weapon of your choice once you are ready to work on your commendations again. If you play with friends you can even give the sword to them once you are done.
I find fistfight awfully dull, which is why I killed exactly 5 enemies and changed back to more fun weapons, like the grenade launcher.

    Have a nice day!

    • John says:

I don’t think it’s a very efficient way to do it for various reasons, you could have the five sword kills in a 2x score attack game quicker than the first time you’ll even see the sword in Arcade fight and further more I find people just about always vote for the heavy weapon modes. So wouldn’t be much choice for the challenge.

      • Pirate Drummer says:

Plus, there’s no guarantee that you’ll get Elite generals for the first round. I usually get Brute chieftains.

  6. michael (DR HIGGLESTEIN) says:

2X Score Attack for the Katanarama challenge. Almost every time i play 2X Score Attack i always get to the elites at the end and grab the sword and get a Cutting Crew, so this wont be hard at all. And considering there are so many enemies left, no one should have a problem getting the challenge.

  7. Nic says:

Got all the challenges done for today. They were easy.

  8. Nic says:

YES!!!! i got 11,364 credits from the slot machine
