Commentary follows after the break…

Blastin’ and Relaxin – Kill 180 enemies in any game mode in Reach – 1350 cR

You’ve got a few choices for doing this really easily and quickly…

  • Forge – make a game with players spawning in one spot and camp it
  • Firefight – Download my Firefight Invincible game type on my File Share, lots of Elites, lots of medals, lots of kills
  • ONI: Sword Base – Use the Target Designator trick (run past everyone at the beginning, grab it, turn around, fire, wait for the killing to stop and restart the checkpoint)
  • Package – There are points where you can get a checkpoint just before a number of Grunts appear in the final battle, so you can gun them down and restart

Weapon Swap – Earn 10 sprees in a Firefight Matchmaking game on Heroic or harder – 1000 cR

Sprees are hard for weapons, especially in Firefight. I reckon Gruntpocalypse or some other easy Score Attack variant, get the 50 kills medal, then die and do another 50. You get 120 kills in Gruntpoc so it’s an easy way to do it. Alternatively use the Shotgun for three, sticky grenades, Swords, Hammers and anything else you can that gives a spree (this list on Halopedia shows all Spree medals available) to top up the killing sprees as well.

Clip It. Share It. – Make a clip from your Local files and upload it to your File Share – 1250 cR

One of the Reach achievements is to recommend a video to someone, this challenge is pretty similar. Press Start, go to Files and Local Store. I had one in there which was the one I’d recommended, so I picked ‘upload to File Share’ from the file info section and voila. If you need to make a clip you can frankly do a whole game, but have a play with theatre mode to capture a good kill or interesting moment in a game then upload that.

You Want This, Don’t You? – Earn 10 kills with precision weapons in a multiplayer Matchmaking game – 1250 cR

This is fairly easy in Team SWAT. Precision weapons are the DMR, Sniper Rifle, Needle Rifle and Focus Rifle (anything that gives a headshot bar the Pistol). So in SWAT you can easily kit up the DMR and just play the game.

I trust we all saw the exciting news yesterday – Halo 4 and Halo CE Anniversary announced (see also HCEA preview and discussion). I’m more excited about Halo 4 – HCEA is HCE with improved graphics and multiplayer. Sure I’ll play it, but the gameplay doesn’t seem to be changing at all – I want a new experience not one I’ve played on Xbox, PC and 360. Although I’m more excited about the Sesame Street game XD

Update – Even more multiplayer news reported by your friend and mine Dave Hinklecheck out this post for the information.

Don’t forget to look up our Game Night page for up to date info about tomorrow night and who to befriend on XBL to do some partying with.

  1. Sergeant Jinto says:

For Weapon Swap, if you survive a game of Firefight without dying, you’ll get 9 Sprees up to Invincible. For your 10th you’ll have to make sure it’s with a spree-able weapon. Energy Sword, Sniper Rifle, Shotgun, Gravity Hammer, Spartan Laser and Sticky Grenades. I think that’s all of them?

    • Zukiter says:

      Spatter sprees

      • Scruff UK says:

Assists too, though that would entail playing multiplayer Firefight, which generally is not particularly helpful in terms of reaching an Invincible 😉

      • Sergeant Jinto says:

Ah, right. Forgot about those ones.

    • Shobaleader One says:

      how is it 9???

      killing spree
      killing frenzy
      running riot
      rampage
      untouchable
      invincible

i went for sniperfight on glacier and got the 3 sniper medals too, then ran out of options and commited suicide to get another sniper spree for my 10th

      • Scruff UK says:

Yeah, you’re right. Which is annoying, since further down the page I’ve used the ‘9 sprees in one game’ as fact, which it isn’t 😉

In that case… go for Sniperfight on Beachhead! 6 sprees from regular kills, 3 from the sniper rifle, 1 (or more) from the Ghost. Whew 😉

    • John says:

Something to remember with the Gravity hammer is that if you melee with it you don’t use any of its energy (unlike the sword) but it still counts towards a spree. That means if you get a hammer during the third wave on score attack you can then melee all the skirmishers to get the three hammer sprees without using its energy up which would only last one spree.

10 isn’t that much of a challenge really as you say, would be good to have a higher target as it’s easy to sticky the brutes in the third wave to get those sprees (and finish up on Elites if needed) and you can nick an Elite’s sword for a spree or two with it.

      John

  2. Scruff UK says:

It’s important to note that for ‘Clip It. Share It’, you have to be the author of the file. Uploading someone else’s video sadly doesn’t work. It’s times like this that my allegedly sweary username bugs me. If only I hadn’t used it for 8 years, I might be tempted to change it 😦

The FF challenge isn’t too bad, but when every minute of killing counts towards my already slim chances of picking up the Weekly, I shan’t be bothering. 1,000 cR isn’t worth it when it could be the 15 minutes worth of play that would’ve got me the Weekly on Sunday.

As for the new Halo games, I’m confused by CE:HD. It appears to be built on the Reach engine, yet the assault rifle doesn’t look anything like the assault rifle in Reach. I’m excited for it, and it’s out a couple of weeks before my 30th which is nice, but I hope it’s not a full-price release. I’m guessing it’ll be something like ODST. I’m looking forward to hammering the Campaign in co-op, particularly the last level which in my opinion is the best last level in any Halo game to date. I just hope 343i don’t attempt to make the multiplayer element as strong as Reach’s. Though it’ll be fun to pop back onto the old maps for a while (proper versions rather than the grey Forge versions), Halo online has moved on, and I will not be putting hundreds of hours into it! Pretty easy to work out what the game night will be that week though, huh? 😉

And if Halo 4 isn’t set on Onyx I will be very, very surprised.

    • actually, it might have to wait a week since i can’t seem to get new release games at a reasonable date here. i’ll have to order that one and it’ll take longer for me to get it. 😕

(seriously. our store on base still has Crysis 2 and Bioshock 2 under “New Releases.” 😦 )

    • Bah Bodenkurk says:

I think Onyx was a great book, but I don’t know if they could make a game out of it.

      • Scruff UK says:

Well it wouldn’t be based ON the book. But if you consider the ending of the book, and then consider the Legendary ending of Halo 3 – particularly what that planet looked like – it would seem likely that the two are related!

Master Chief could turn up, meet up with the remaining Spartans and Dr. Halsey etc…

    • FireySplork says:

@Scruff UK, I hope Halo 4 is on Onyx, otherwise, ill be very dissapointed. They will probs do what they did with ODST and 3 and make the online of 4 a basic improvement to Reach’s. HOpefullly, if they have ranks, they wont reset 15000 people.

      • PlutoVortex says:

It would be awesome if Halo 4 was on Onyx and Master Chief met up with Jun from Noble 6. I would be so happy.

      • ZaganZee says:

I’d personally enjoy if they reset the ranks with four, by holiday 2012 I should reach inheritor, and I don’t want to play through a whole new halo without an aspect of the game. I’m really psyched about the remake however. I had my doubts about it at first, but supposedly the firefight map that comes with it is set in halo 1, and that could possibly mean…. flood firefight. 🙂

      • JustHawkeye says:

If MC meets Jun, I hope he betrays him for his sniper rifle since Jun can’t hit the ground with it. 😉

      • Bah Bodenkurk says:

Yeah, Jun never dies, I forgot. And he escorted Dr. Halsey away, but he wasn’t in Halo: First Strike, so who knows.

As far as Halo: 4 and CEA, are they going to be made by Bungie or someone else? I heard a rumor Bungie wasn’t doing them. If that’s true, are they going to be XBox only games or are they reaching other systems?

  3. Scruff UK says:

On the subject of Halo: CE Anniversary, I’ve been reading around and common speculation is that the “7 original maps” will be included on a separate disc with all the Reach online stuff, as a ‘Reach multiplayer experience’ disc, like what happened with Halo 3 / ODST. Interesting…

    • Matthew Vose says:

Did you read the preview I linked to?

‘Unlike the dual-engine campaign mode, Anniversary’s multiplayer component — created with help from longtime Halo contributor Certain Affinity — is rendered entirely using the Halo: Reach engine. The multiplayer component will still be separate from Reach, however. Those playing multiplayer via Anniversary will be restricted to the six remastered Halo: CE maps and the single “Damnation” map from Halo 2. In other words, your friends playing Reach will see that you’re logged into CE. That said, Anniversary will also include a voucher to download the maps directly into Halo: Reach.’

      • Scruff UK says:

I didn’t read the preview – I am in work, where internet access is limited at the best of times. I’m stuck between here, xbox360achievements.org and BBC news, which isn’t the most helpful videogame site ever 😉 Thanks for clarifying 🙂

I am a bit confused by “the multiplayer component will still be separate”. Because it then says that you can download the maps into Reach. So the multiplayer component will still be separate, except for when it isn’t? 😉 And if you can download the maps, that means DLC, which means achievements! Woo 🙂

      • Ian (FearTheTurtle06) says:

i think they mean that playing the maps with the anniversary disk in will have weapons like halo:ce but the game physics of reach, without abilities. Or u can download the maps themselves into reach. someone playing Anniversary cant party up with someone playing reach.

It would be nice to see the real maps in reach instead of the Forge versions in the team classic playlist. I also wonder if multiplayer on anniversary will have sniper junior (pistol) or the nerfed pistol from later games.

      • Scruff UK says:

It appears to have changed. From reading the ‘update’ article Matthew has linked to, it seems that the Halo: CE disc will have absolutely no competitive online multiplayer whatsoever, and all the matchmaking stuff will be on Reach only.

So the original theory of the ‘Mythic’ disc of the Reach multiplayer still stands! 😉

  4. porottaja says:

I am still actively playing (and modding) Halo PC, so remastered version is interesting.

  5. Nic says:

I can’t get the clip it share it challenge I’ve tried 4 times with the pics i took in theater mode.
    What’s wrong?

  6. Cant wait for Halo 4. Gonna be great!!
I like the Halo: Combat Evolved anniversary edition as well.
I wanted to quickly post that it is not required to do the spree challenge with different weapons, it is just the process of the getting the spree. If you get the rockets, you can simply do that over and over till the challenge is completed.
@Sir Galahad 63 Yes the clip is a video but only a few seconds long
Just record one segment and then save that as the clip and upload it to your file share.

    • Scruff UK says:

Not if you survive a full round of Firefight you can’t – and generally people don’t intentionally die in FF, since there’s a Perfection commendation on the line. Surviving a full round of Firefight, killing 100+ enemies, without using one of the previously mentioned weapons only nets you an absolute maximum of 9 sprees. Therefore you either have to die at least once in order to get several ‘small’ sprees, or use a spree-giving weapon such as the sniper to give you the 10th spree.

And the film clip could be half an hour long if you want. It just has to be video that you’ve created that you upload.

      • t-rOY says:

‘clips’ can also be the entire video of your most recent game. My wife uploaded the video from her last Griffball without clipping anything, and the challenge was completed

      • JustHawkeye says:

You can also upload an existing video from your file share. Just delete the video and then reupload it and it should work as long as you’re the original author.

  7. mickoboy90 says:

another choice for sprees, go to firefight arcade, and go after fist fight. you get hammer and sword. you can easily get wrecking crew with hammer, die and then again 🙂

    • Ian (FearTheTurtle06) says:

i agree fist fight with evade makes for lots of hammer and sword sprees plus the usual killing sprees.

  8. kenny says:

Sniper fight makes the 10 sprees in fire fight much easier

  9. Simmons9552 says:

Just do sniperfight on beachead. You get a ghost and a warthog (perfect for splatter sprees) and you get unlimited sniper ammo. After you kill 15 enimies with the sniper just die and do it again. Easiest way to get sprees.

    • Scruff UK says:

Why die if you don’t have to? There’s a Perfection commendation you know! 😉 3 sprees with the sniper, 3 with the Ghost, then another 4 (of a maximum of 6) sprees based on kill volumes will net you 10 sprees easily 🙂

      • JustHawkeye says:

Don’t forget the 3 sticky sprees (sticky spree, sticky fingers, con-something).

      • Ian (FearTheTurtle06) says:

corrected is the 15 sticky one

  10. Starmage008 says:

Tired of being at work. Want to play Halo.

  11. Braythor says:

As has been said I also reckon a quick sniperfight on Beachhead is enough for the sprees. Then a pause from grifball to go to swat and pick up the precision kills.

I think the Halo news travelled almost instantaneously around the world. I watched the E3 and am sure the guy said ‘a brand new trilogy’ before the H4 trailer, so here’s hoping. Not too fussed about CE, I’ll play it but don’t think it’ll be worth paying much for. On the subject of E3, did anyone else think that overall the MS stuff was a huge disappointment? Almost everything was a continuation of a franchise, with only Overstrike being an original game (and how I look forward to that one). Oh, other than the Kinect of course. I hate Kinect and everything it stands for, but I won’t start ranting about that ‘cos it’ll fill the page. Final nail in Fable’s coffin though… So anyway, while I’m thrilled about H4, Gears 3, and the new SSX, I was hoping for more originality. But then I suppose that’s a more risky approach from a business POV…

    • Matthew Vose says:

Sesame Street, Ryse, Minecraft (and yeah Minecraft isn’t new but it’s not a sequel). And of couse they’re supporting Kinect hugely – it’s sold millions upon millions! This was all MS though, we’ll see more throughout the show I bet, and they want to get as many headlines as they could, which new IP won’t do unless it’s from a studio like Bungie or Bioware, or someone like Tim Schafer etc.

      • Braythor says:

Haha yeah I saw the Sesame Street thing. If I were a kid then I’d be jumping with excitement.

I completely understand why they want to support Kinect; they’ve chased Nintendo into the mainstream, family orientated, ‘simple’ gaming market, and it’s HUGE (basically it consists of everyone who isn’t a gamer). But us poor ‘core’ or ‘pure’ gamers I fear will be left behind to suck on the carcasses of long-dead franchises. I can’t for the day when gaming consists of full body motion capture control systems accompanied by fully immersive holographically projected 3D environments (that would be so cool), but until then, I just don’t want to know. I mean the (American) football thing – ‘oh wow hey guys now you can play (American) football in your homes by pretending to run and catch a ball!’. Or you could just buy a (American) football and go outside… Maybe I’m being too cynical, but I really do worry about what the near future holds for gaming. But enough of that, time for some (insert John Madden’s voice) GRIFBALL!!!

  12. OMGBBQWTFLOL says:

Skipped the firefight to work on the weekly (busy with finals, don’t have time to halo all day) but I was really happy there was a 180 daily. Forced myself to get all of that in MM. Up to 333/1000 for the weekly, but once i finish finals I should be able to gun out the rest.

It’s so hard to focus on writing papers and studying when E3 is on, especially with Nintendos great conference today. I felt microsoft and sony were very lackluster (Don’t get me wrong, I am excited for Halo Anniversary and H4 – assuming HA is around $30, definitely not worth more than $40 to me) but there is still much to be announced!

    • Nic says:

I think it is $40 but my friend said you can change between good graphics from the new one and the not ad good graphics from the old one

    • JustHawkeye says:

I don’t get the appeal of the Wii U controller. I am not paying $100 for a controller, which is freaking huge. I wasn’t really all too impressed with nintendo, and wonder how they are going to improve their online game play to accomadate Ghost recon, Battlefield 3, etc. Trying to talk to someone on nintendo is crazy hard unless you have their console number and you both have wii speak. I’m sticking to xbox live. I pre-ordered Battlefield 3 today 🙂

      • John says:

I don’t understand that controller either as it looked daft, like some parody with loads of bits stuck on making it nothing like an actual controller.

        John

  13. ZaganZee says:

I just saw the Halo CE remake trailer, and wow. That looks awesome. I will be reserving this. 🙂

    • mickoboy90 says:

I think halo ce remake will be add on for halo reach buyable from market..cos when i watched the trailer, the multiplayer part was same as reach…same armory and assassination

      • i highly, HIGHLY doubt that the CE 10th Anniversary addition will be just DLC. it’s waaaaaaaay too big of a deal to just release it straight to marketplace.

        it’s definitely hitting stores.

      • John says:

They announced it would be like ODST – a retail release but wouldn’t be full price and would use Reach’s multiplayer with seven new maps. Their reasoning being people are familiar with Reach’s multiplayer as it’s the most recent release and I’d agree with them on that.

        John

  14. deviouskyle251 says:

Given the nature of the weekly challenge, I’d recommend topping off Blastin’ and Relaxin in your favorite MM gametype. They also seem to be generous with the 3,000 cR jackpots tonight. I’ve already got two!
