Commentary follows after the break…

Covenant-cide – Kill 120 enemies in Firefight Matchmaking – 1100 cR

So you could do this in one game of Gruntpocalypse, 2X Score Attack or some of the other variants. Why am I going for Gruntpoc as the best option? Because it’s got easy enemies to take out and a really quick game type to play through.

Fire When Ready – Kill 50 enemies in multiplayer Matchmaking – 1500 cR

This is over any number of games, so no stress to push for it at once. 50 should only take a few games though, Grifball and Multi-Team Battle are particularly good for getting a high number of kills in any one game, especially the objective based Crazy King and Oddball variants.

Aggressive Negotiations – Earn at least 17 kills in a multiplayer Matchmaking game – 1700 cR

17 in one game is fairly achievable in Team Slayer or Team SWAT too. Crazy King or Oddball in Multi-Team should get you there in one game if you can get either of those variants, remember to take it slow and don’t rush in to battles, pick people off after other players have shot them up. If you can lay your hands on the Sword or Hammer and use Active Camo you can go on a decent run. Of course our old friend Grifball is really the king of large kill volumes, even I could get 17 in that (probably). I’ve found Halo Ball Extreme to be really good for kills too, although might be harder to get as it’s in Action Sack.

One Game, One Spawn – Complete a Firefight Matchmaking game without dying – 2000 cR

As ever this is easiest in Gruntpoc or 2X Score Attack. The best strategies to make sure you stay alive are to use Sprint, letting you get to take out 30-50% of the wave before they get close enough to be a threat. Key things to be aware of are enemies with Plasma Launchers and Fuel Rod Guns, who will fire from further away; Grunts overcharging their Plasma Pistols; and guys throwing grenades as they get close. Take out anyone you see with a heavy or charged weapon first. If you see an enemy with a Plasma Grenade, shoot it and they’ll often drop it. If you hear one thrown or something fired then get out of there quickly. Always better to pull back to a different part of the map than make a brave stand. Don’t be a hero and dive in, you get plenty of time to take them all out.

So a couple of MPMM games, maybe one or two of FFMM and you’re good, with a pretty nice return. Although you might not want to race through them so quickly given the weekly challenge’s game volume target.

  1. Sergeant Jinto says:

They may have a banhammer working on it, but I’d keep an eye out for idlers trying to get One Game, One Spawn if you try it in Firefight Arcade and/or Limited.

If that’s the case, you can always do what I do and lead the Covenant to the idler and let them kill them. 😀

    • Tom says:

I usually go for pushing them out into the open, and if they move THEN I draw the Convenant over.

  2. Scruff UK says:

I’ve played enough Grifball last week to last me a lifetime, so if I can get on tonight then the MM challenges will be in Rumble Pit or whatever modes are offering Double Jackpots this week, anyone know what they are? 🙂

As for the FF ones, they should be relatively easy in one 2x Score Attack on a decent map, I’ve found Unearthed and Outpost to be pretty good maps for ‘not dying’ if you play sensibly. There’s also the option of Sniperfights on Beachhead and Glacier where you can camp away in areas where you’ll barely be attacked, but I’ve found Sniperfight to be a difficult mode to get the full kill volume in, since constantly sniping takes a lot longer than mowing enemies down with your over-powered assault rifle etc.

    • FireySplork says:

Same. Had to do it with my bud and he sucks at grifball so i was playing for him. In one sitting i got the weekly. I need a break from Grifball. BTW, I finally ranked up Field Marshall, woot woot

      • Scruff UK says:

Sweet, I should be hitting that this week. Got less than 44,000 cR to go! 😀

      • FireySplork says:

As bad as this may sound, you feel like youve accomplished something when you enter the top ten ranks.

      • mickoboy90 says:

Well done. i just hit hero on last saturday.cant wait for legend so i can get last attachment for security helmet 🙂

      • MedicalCloth849 says:

I just broke Captain last night. I feel so weak now.

  3. porottaja says:

“Definitely get into Outpost to do this at the same time as the next challenge.”

    Copypaste fail.

    • Matthew Vose says:

Play nice Poro, I spent about 7 hours in meeting rooms today (and am now at home working) so had limited time to do this, yeah mistakes creep in to the 500+ posts I’ve done so far. :p

      • porottaja says:

I wasn’t mocking you, only pointng it out so you could fix it.

  4. Woody says:

Corvette is my favorite map for achieving flawless firefights. Gruntpocalypse and 2x Score Attack are the best options. I just simply camp at the end of the walkways by the starting spawn point and shoot everything that peeks around the corners.

  5. Braythor says:

For me the firefight one is best done on 2x SA on Holdout, just stay in the spawn room and let rip with the AR and grenades then when the dropships come in at the end, run out and grab the target designator. If you’ve time then fire it over a ship, otherwise run back in and fire it at the door when the first elites show up.

  6. Bah Bodenkurk says:

I have never played a game of Gruntpocalypse where I got 120 kills. There’s always one asshole grunt that kills one of his buddies. Rocket attack is usually the best game, and it pays the most on Courtyard and Holdout. That’s what I usually do when this challenge comes up. You just have to be quicker than everyone else in the game.

    • Defender77 says:

Just do a crashsite after a grunt game to get the last couple kills you need and then let them take the power generator.

  7. TravellinMan says:

i found that playing Firefight Doubles was pretty easy to get through the One Game, One Spawn challenge.. i think there first couple of 2x Score Attack on Overlook i went without dying (not bragging by any means, just throwing it out there!!).. so ill definitely be giving that a shot when i get home from work..

  8. Mister X says:

2X Score Attack and Grifball? So easy!

  9. MedicalCloth849 says:

Ugh. No campaign challenges. Now I have nothing to do today.

  10. mike says:

where is the multiplayer firefight gruntapoc? i only have it under firefight and it won’t give me points for it…
