Today’s challenges are listed below, click Read More to view the commentary:

  1. Blastin’ and Relaxin’ – Kill 180 enemies in any game mode in Reach – 1350 cR
  2. You Want This, Don’t You? – Earn 12 kills with precision weapons in a multiplayer Matchmaking game – 1500 cR
  3. The Dream Shake – Earn 4 Double Kills in the same match in multiplayer Matchmaking – 2000 cR
  4. Home Field Advantage – Win 7 games in multiplayer Matchmaking – 2050 cR

Commentary follows after the break…

Blastin’ and Relaxin’ – Kill 180 enemies in any game mode in Reach – 1350 cR

You’ve got a few choices for doing this really easily and quickly (although your other challenges will get you a good way there)…

  • Forge – make a game with players spawning in one spot and camp it
  • Firefight – Download my Firefight Invincible game type on my File Share, lots of Elites, lots of medals, lots of kills
  • ONI: Sword Base – Use the Target Designator trick (run past everyone at the beginning, grab it, turn around, fire, wait for the killing to stop and restart the checkpoint)
  • Package – There are points where you can get a checkpoint just before a number of Grunts appear in the final battle, so you can gun them down and restart

You Want This, Don’t You? – Earn 12 kills with precision weapons in a multiplayer Matchmaking game – 1500 cR

This is fairly easy in Team SWAT. Precision weapons are the DMR, Sniper Rifle, Needle Rifle and Focus Rifle. So in SWAT you can easily kit up the DMR and just play the game.

The Dream Shake – Earn 4 Double Kills in the same match in multiplayer Matchmaking – 2000 cR

4 isn’t too bad these days, Team SWAT works well, but Grifball probably works better for this one too. This is of course 4 Double Kills, not multikills, so getting a Triple Kill won’t count as two towards this.

Home Field Advantage – Win 7 games in multiplayer Matchmaking – 2050 cR

Stick to Team Slayer/SWAT/Snipers/Objective/Grifball/Action Sack for this. In those there are only two teams so your chances of winning are greatly improved. If you find a group of guys you play well with then stick with them.

Really good credit return for really easy games. Play SWAT to get the Precision Kills, then either mix it up in Action Sack or Grifball to get the wins and Double Kills, and by then you’ve probably got close, or reached, 180 kills. Simples!

Yes, yes, yes, no. Thanks to seeing my “friends” for some “socialising” I won’t have time to play 7 games tonight, let alone win 7, but will hopefully be able to squeeze in a game of SWAT and a Grifball (if still needed), then mop up with some turbo Campaign kill spamming. Fairly decent credit return today too 🙂

Anyone who’s at home on their Xbox right now – any word on what this weekend’s Super Jackpot is?

    • would they be up now? guess i’ll let you know in a second. then i’m going to take a nap. 🙂

adding: as of 1230 my time, they aren’t up yet.

    • Matthew Vose says:

Not up yet, I’ll update the widget when they are.

      • Peggy Peggy says:

I think the BTB all star playlist starts today so I’m reckoning that! Its going to be triple jackpots!!!!

        Peggy Peggy FTW

      • Scruff UK says:

BTB All Stars would be awesome. There are going to be loads of people who didn’t know about it / didn’t bother completing the games of Invasion, which means less people in BTB All Stars, which means a higher chance of getting the Super Jackpot each game! And if not, triple jackpots are just as tasty 🙂

      • halfevilhomer says:

im pretty sure its the BTB all stars which starts later tonight, around 5/6pm GMT i think. Unless they plan to have a Super jackpot weekend in a different playlist as well as the BTB allstarts playlist which has triple jackpots. Shame im working flat out this weekend. Maybe ill get a chance to play Sunday night after the Foruma 1 has finished!

      • Sir Galahad 63 says:

What is Foruma 1? Or do you mean Formula 1?

  2. At least i’ll be able to grind away at Home Field Advantage while feeling sorry for myself after falling down the stairs this morning! fail… xL

  3. MadAmericanTaco says:

Has anyone else noticed that the game completion cR seems to be going up? Latley I’ve noticed that I get about 1500 cR just for finishing a game of FF where before I was only getting about 1000 (if I was lucky). I have been doing better as far as score and placement but figured that would fall under the performance bonus or help with commendations? Not that I’m complaining, just wondering if it is a short time boost.

    • I think it increases as you go up on rank… 😀
      Im not complaining either :L

    • Tom says:

Yeah, it goes up with your rank. I get double what I did when I started now.

    • Chris says:

Its good that it does but sort of gets cancelled out with the higher cR milestones to rank up 😦

      • MadAmericanTaco says:

I agree, nothing worse than needing to earn like 900,000 to level up and onle getting 800 for the match 😦

    • Woody says:

I thought I was the only who noticed the increase.

      • Braythor says:

I noticed that the game complete bonus went up with the revamped ff arcade. I was getting ~1500 before, now I get around 2300.

    • HC Sangheili says:

Game Complete is based on time spent completing a match and rank. Complete a Griffball match in 3 – 30 second rounds and you might get 150 cR. Complete that same match in 5 – 3 minute rounds and you might get 1500 cR.

With the new FF Arcade length (20 minutes), and the rank of Eclipse, if I go the distance, I’ll see an average of 5500 cR for game complete.

      • Woody says:

They always say that you learn something new each day and this is one of those things for me. Cool!

      • halfevilhomer says:

Same here, at Hero rank i usually average about 4000cr a game even without going the distance. It it does manage to last the full 20 mins it can be as high as 6000….commendations pending

  4. Woody says:

The first three challenges will be easy to complete. As for seven wins… I’m not sure if I will be lucky enough get before the warlord (girlfriend) gets home from work.

    • MadAmericanTaco says:

Griftball all the way Woody, you may not win all the time but the games are fast enough that you should get in about 10-12.

      • Woody says:

I was thinking Grifball. I’m just hoping I can get seven wins within the one hour break that I have before she gets home. If I don’t get in done then I will just have to wait ’til she falls asleep tonight. Then again, I almost forgot that she actually likes Grifball despite not being a Halo fan and is actually pretty decent at it. I’ll just talk her into playing with me. lol

    • Braythor says:

Woody, don’t forget the extra half hour while she makes you your dinner 🙂

      • Woody says:

Oh wow… I didn’t think about that. Thanks! With that being said, I will surely get seven wins. 🙂

      • Sir Galahad 63 says:

        Bit sexist?

      • MadAmericanTaco says:

Yeah but maybe she likes making him dinner while he plays Halo.?. Of course if that is the case I would highly advise you to hold on cause she is something special 🙂

      • Sir Galahad 63 says:

Even if she does like making him dinner, we don’t know that. Braythor is just stereotyping women as the workhorses in the kitchen. 😉

      • Scruff UK says:

Ah come on, he was clearly joking. Get back in the kitchen and make me some pie, etc 😉

      • Matthew Vose says:

Well it’s not like she’ll be playing Halo, we all know girls don’t play games. The chain isn’t long enough from the sink to the living room, surely?

      • Woody says:

Well, I can say in our relationship, we rotate cooking every other day. Today just so happens to be her day. 🙂

      • Sir Galahad 63 says:

Does that mean Snicks is a guy….? And I get that Braythor was joking I was just commenting on the way you were putting it.
        Let’s stay friendly 🙂

  5. Tom says:

I just played a game of Haloball Xtreme where we actually DOMINATED TOO MUCH TO GET THE DOUBLE KILL CHALLENGE.

Like, I could never kill 2 enemies in succession because there were never 2 enemies alive…

  6. well damn. i go take a (longer than intended 😕 ) nap and things explode.

chris – i fell down the marble staircase in my house yesterday when i woke up. hurts like a SOB and i’m bruised from head to toe.

galahad – do you REALLY want to go down that path? 😉

    • Chris (Insanity Boy) says:

      marble, och!!
Was this the new house? If so at least you have an excuse for falling due to ‘unfamiliar territory’ xL
But its good to know someone else out there shares my pain :’)

She may be a girl but she could probably still kick your ass- she plays Halo after all 😉

    • Scruff UK says:

      • Chris (Insanity Boy) says:

You have your fun now Scruff, but the day you fall, me and Snicks will be here… waiting… 😛

    • Shane says:

  7. Braythor says:

Well this has proven quite a nightmare of a matchmaking day. First I spend several games being pitched against people ten times better than me and ending up as nothing more than cannon fodder. Then I finally get 12 DMR kills and it doesn’t count the challenge as done so I have to grind on (finally got it, just). And don’t even get me started on quitters, man I hate them SO MUCH!!! On the plus side I hit General grade 4 and so begin the long slog to Field Marshall…

    • Chris (Insanity Boy) says:

The grass is always greener… i guess :L

    • Woody says:

Sorry to hear about your matchmaking nightmare. Things will get better. I wish I was a General Grade 4, instead of plain ol’ General.

    • robotperson says:

The cr yields are so good on Firefight at the moment that I really don’t see the point in grinding to get a lowly 1500. I got 6k last night in 20m with no challenge bonuses. It’s helping a bit that so many are AFK as it leaves you with more kills and the game is guaranteed to go the distance.

  8. Starmage008 says:

Made it to General last night. I feel all grown up now, and it inspired me to change my spartan looks. Wife working an evening shift means Halo likely all night.

Oh, how sitting all day at a desk and then all night on the couch ruins one’s physical fitness. Wonder if I could sue Bungie for making me fat …

    Is 145 lbs fat?

    • John says:

My poor Spartan looks much the same as he did from the start bar a slightly different chest, still on his recon helmet and original shoulder pads…oh and he has a tacpad and some armour on thie thigh. Poor guy probably hates me but there’s no much armour I’m fussed about and I think the likes of Inclement Weather just screams ‘kill me’

      • i only have 18% armory completion.

      • Matthew Vose says:

I only have 15% :p I’m lamer than you, hah!

      • Starmage008 says:

55% armory and 56% commendation. Decided to waste a bunch of credits on the cheaper items. I think I’m satisfied with my looks for a while now.

      • mickoboy90 says:

hero rank,50% armory and 70% commendations saving up for inclement weather.. so many credits to save..but already got 1,240,000 😀

Anyone else saving for inclement weather??

      • Braythor says:

I’m saving up for it. I know it makes me more of a target but I’m pretty awful anyway so won’t make much difference, and I’ve got all the armour I want. I’m at 1.8 million or so, will have it before I hit Field Marshall.

Now back to BBC3 and wishing I was at Glasto misbehaving. I get my festival fix next week though – a buckfast fuelled weekend in a field full of friends. Awesome.

      • John says:

20% armour completion and Hero rank here…3.5 million credits in the bank!

      • mickoboy90 says:

Why dont u just spend them?? inclement weather ftw.

      • probably same reason i’m not spending my 2.whatever million….he doesn’t want to.

i have my grunt birthday party, i’m happy.

      • John says:

There’s nothing really I want to spend the credits on, I’ve got all the Firefight voices I want which were the main thing I was saving for but after that there’s not much. I don’t like pestilence/inclement weather as I think they make you a target plus they’re getting fairly common now, I should have bought it straight away when it was quite rare i guess.

The problem I have with Grunt Birthday Party is I think it makes it more satisfying for people killing me (I certainly know that’s the case with grunts!) so again, I’ve not gone for it.

      • robotperson says:

I think part of the point of inclement weather is to make the statement “I am so leet you cannot kill me even with this silly hat on”.

      • Scruff UK says:

I am all about the armoury completion. And with a couple of slight exceptions, I keep buying the cheapest thing there is. I WILL GET TO 100%!!

And I like Pestilence and Inclement Weather 🙂

  9. Matthew Vose says:

No more bitching or insults guys, I won’t have it here. Anything I see gets spammed or deleted.

    • Chris (Insanity Boy) says:

      You mean me and Scruff?
We are only joking, well I am anyways :L

      • Matthew Vose says:

Not that’s for a comment I deleted but I don’t want things getting out of hand. I’d rather just turn off comments than let it descend.

      • Chris (Insanity Boy) says:

Ah right, it felt like a telling off from a teacher :L

Understandable, but I think its just because everyone got a bit off topic :S

      • getting off topic is fine, it happens fairly frequently.

being an ass, however, is not.

  10. Jetpack333 says:

do action sacks halo balll extreme. i got 8 doubles 1and a killionair last nite 😛

    • Matthew Vose says:

Problem is for every HBX you play you risk getting something like Shotty Snipers or To The Death. :S

      • Shane says:

Those two are my least favourite game types. I’m surprised anyone ever willingly plays a second game of TTD.

        HBX, lots of fun.

    • John says:

I find Haloball pointless in its current form, so many people don’t seem to actually bother with the game and instead go for kills which I find irritating. Why no play Griffball given it’s designed for that?

  11. Woody says:

Gosh…. I am constantly forgetimg about action sack. I’ve never tried any of the action sack games and have been telling myself to try them, but I always forget by the time I get home. I guess I’m just getting old and my memory is not working like it used to. lol

  12. michael (DR HIGGLESTEIN) says:

Has anyone else had a problem with getting the blue flames? I went to the front page of Bungie.net and clicked get flames and hit the verify email address button and it took me to a page that said an error occured and to check my email address. I checked it and i didnt have anything in my inbox or spam folder. I even put down a different email address because it said worse case to just change it and get it sent to the new one. Still nothing. Just wondering if anyone else is having the same problems?

  13. Niisama Broham says:

Well, just killed (betrayed) two guys during a FF Limited match while at lunch. Do they ban for that or am I free and clear? lol

    • John says:

How did you manage to betray in FF? I thought friendly fire was off these days, as far as I’m aware there’s no bans for it as you can’t even boot people for betrayal. At least from what I’ve seen, my brother and I were killed several times by idiot team-mates in the warthog and there wasn’t an option to boot nor were they kicked…the situation was resolved with a gravhammer blow to said warthog.

      • Niisama Broham says:

More or less the same thing you did John.

They were in a party. The two guys and the 4th player jumped in the Hog on Beachhead. After the first wave the two guys drove straight into the water but used jet-packs to escape and killed player 4. Of course he quit.

Meanwhile, I had commandeered a Wraith. They overcharged it so I got out and escaped. They both jumped in the Wraith and started joy-riding (guess they were looking for me). In that time I grabbed a sniper rifle and took out the Wraith with them both in it. They quit at that point.

And yeah, haven’t been banned, so all is good!

  14. Tom says:

Had the best luck I have ever had with a wins challenge last night. Got the 7 wins in the space of 9 games.

I had a pretty good night myself and get put with some good teams. Not like when these challenges usually come up and I get stuck with incompetents.

  15. John says:

Is anyone having the same problem with the jackpot not showing in the credits after? I’m not sure if I got it or not as I stupidly didn’t check my starting credits.

This is why I hate Reach though, I decided as I was feeling a bit shattered after the late gaming night on Wednesday and going back to 12 hour shifts today I wouldn’t bother with the challenges. Then I remember the jackpot so hopped in for a couple of games of Doubles and surprisingly ended up with decent team-mates making the game very enjoyable…no quitters, no idlers and only one duff team-mate who killed himself more times than he killed the enemy team. Also (brace yourself snickerdoodle and make sure you’re not standing near a marble staircase as this will be a big shock) I managed to get the precision challenge to my surprise! Doubles King gives you the DMR as a starting weapon making it easy to get the kills if you’re useless at SWAT as I am…

    • Chris (Insanity Boy) says:

oohh she going to eat into you for that :L

    • hooray! nicely done!!!

    • robotperson says:

Um… that duff team mate sounds a lot like me last night. One partner emptied his clip into me then quitted-out in disgust. Hmmm, Halo + passive aggressives…

First time for me on doubles and it was good fun. Game balance is a bit off I think: when you die you’re at a big disadvantage whilst you try to find your partner, but otherwise it’s a lot less chaotic.

I got the 27k jackpot on my 6th game. Made it to (wait for it) Commander.

[fizzing noise of a firework failing to ignite]
