Commentary follows after the break…

Fire When Ready – Kill 30 enemies in multiplayer Matchmaking – 1100 cR

As ever, Grifball, and you’ll get this in a game or two. Try and get at least one buddy to hold the bomb whilst you play for kills (and revenges), or hold the bomb yourself and pick off the other team as they come at you with hammers.

Overlook’s Overwatch – Kill 125 enemies on Overlook in Firefight Matchmaking – 1100 cR

Best way is to get a 2X Score Attack game type on Overlook, since you’ve got a good chance of getting more than 125 enemies in that game. We always have debates on these turning up when it’s map specific, some people so them appear a lot less, so as soon as you’re offered Overlook pick something, and do it twice (especially Crashsite or Generator Defense) if you need to top up.

A Side of Huevos – Kill 60 enemies with Sniper Rifle headshots in Nightfall on Normal – 1500 cR

You get 50 something bullets, so just go through and headshot everything you can. There is a checkpoint trick you can use to get this quickly, get a checkpoint trigger just behind the first Elite, headshot him, then reset the checkpoint, rinse and repeat. Note it is only the Sniper Rifle you can use to get the challenge, and it has to be a headshot. I played through to the end of the first camp (before the big creatures), then restarted the mission and got everything next time around. Don’t forget that Grunt’s heads are slightly lower than the tanks on their backs and forward.

Not as Clumsy or Random… – Earn 5 kills with precision weapons in a multiplayer Matchmaking game – 1000 cR

Jump into a Team SWAT match, take out some guys and it’s an easy top up of 1000 credits. Precision weapons are the DMR, Focus Rifle, Needle Rifle and Sniper Rifle.

Easy, easy, easy. Shame the FF one is on Overlook though, I got stuck playing that horrible map yesterday 😉 I’ll do that one in Score Attack methinks, unless anyone wants to double up later on.

You know what’s not easy? Halo: ODST’s Endure achievement. Especially when 2 hammer chieftains and a FRG chieftain wipe out your entire team in the LAST WAVE OF THE FOURTH SET. 😦
Gans/’Cos/Digi – when’s good for you guys for a rematch? For the next couple of days I can do any time in the morning your time, as long as I’m done by about 1pm Eastern, and though I don’t know for sure yet, I might have time on Saturday evening, between 5pm Eastern and about 9pm. Will confirm ASAP 😕

    Also, matthew vose muscle.

    • The Endure achievement is something i need as well. I have always been afraid to attempt it because i think i would be the one that would lose all the lives for everyone. Sorry to hear that you made it that far and didnt get it. How long did it take you guys to get to the last wave of the fourth set?

      • Scruff 815 says:

        2 hours and 10 minutes. Aaaagh 😕

      • I forgot to ask you but what map did you try it on? Im gonna guess Lost Platoon?

      • gans42 says:

@Michael: we did it on alpha site because its small, has 2 doorways to funnel the enemies, and no vehicles or engineers.

@Scruff: We’ll figure it out. i dont mind waiting a while until we can coordinate again, we had a good team going. and after you went to sleep last night digi, ‘cos, and i realized we could have done it easily if it werent for bad luck. there were 4 betrayals, A LOT of screw ups in the 1st 2 rounds, a few wasted rockets by me against hunters when mythic was on, and occasional bouts of really bad lag. things should be fine next attempt. and maybe i can hit 200 assists this time 😉

      • SensoryFour34 says:

The fact that you lost on the fourth set is bad luck itself. I hope you finally get it.
@Higglestein I know what you mean. I would probably be the one to lose a lot of lives too. I might still try it, but I’ll probably do it after beating the campaign on Heroic, and I get a few 200k achievements.

Here are some Endure tips from a halo group I joined on bungie, some of these guys have mad it to set 8! : Team Punishment’s 10 Tips for Surviving Endure
      1. Two people should cover each staircase. Stay out of the middle. Ammo up between waves.
      2. The auto-mag or carbine is your best friend. Go for headshots – practice makes perfect.
      3. The best weapon combo is auto-mag and a plasma weapon (plasma pistol or rifle). The human arsenal (SMG and shotgun) should be ignored, with the exception of drones.
      4. All useful weapons (especially the power weapons – rockets, fuel rod, hammers) should be juggled (the process of exchanging weapons back and forth while moving the one you want to a location and keeping the other) into the center elevator between waves, as they do not despawn there. Stockpiling plasma weapons early on is good too. Once Famine & Tilt are on, it’s nice to grab a plasma pistol with 88 ammo instead of 32.
      5. Use the sniper rifle to take down hunters. Put shots on the Hunter with an SMG or plasma rifle to keep it’s attention and it’s back to whoever has the sniper. Aim for the weak spot on it’s back. One shot should knock off it’s back plate, and a 2nd shot will kill it. Who ever is on the same side as the sniper should focus their attention on other enemies, primarily carbine jackals way in the back. Shooting the Hunter will cause it to turn it’s attention to you.
      6. Use the rocket launcher to take down hammer and fuel-rod chieftains in the 5th wave of each round. Three people should have a plasma-based weapon, and the fourth should carry the rockets. Pop the chieftain’s shields with plasma, and then follow up with a single rocket. Use nothing explosive on the hammer chieftains because their invincibility will instantly activate – this means no grenades, fuel rod, brute shot, or SMG.
      7. If this isn’t an option for whatever reason, use the bait-and-backsmack technique. Have one person backing up (move around objects to keep them between you) while shooting the pursuing chieftain. Have another moving in for an assassination, as assassinations are one-melee kills, even if invincibility is activated. If you are the person going for the assassination, do not shoot at the chieftain.
      8. If you are using the hammer, exercise caution and let everyone know you are wielding one to avoid casualties. For the most part, the Punishers only use the hammers to clear out the first wave of each round by camping the landing pads where the grunts & jackals drop and occasionally during bug waves if we feel like “fly swatting”.
      9. During the bonus round, unload heavy weapons (fuel rod, rockets, brute shot) into the windows above the side elevators once “Iron On” is said by the game announcer.
      10. When the Famine skull is turned on (starting in the third set) and especially in the fifth wave of each round, juggle multiple plasma weapons (minimum of two) to the staircases to ensure you have a readily-available supply of plasma weapons.

      • Bart fultz says:

I really should have posted their name, they are called “The Spartan I Project” and the main Firefight group is called “Team Punishment” . They helped me get my endure last year!

      • Bart fultz says:

They do all their runs on “Alpha Site” because if you put weapons in the elevators they will never despawn or disappear!

      • gans42 says:

Bart thanks! some of that stuff we knew, but some stuff we never would have guessed (like the not despawning weapons in the elevator)

      • Scruff 815 says:

Wow, thanks Bart! I didn’t know like half of those tips. Thanks very much 😀

    • digipatd says:

      Let’s make another WhenIsGood.net event!

  2. Woody says:

Easy challenges, though I think I’m going to skip the campaign challenge. I’m tired of dealing with any kind of sniper rifle challenge or game, since I’ve finally came to my own conclusion that my hands will never be steady enough to use sniper weapons.

  3. porottaja says:

    Magic trick, Halo Reach style:

    • gans42 says:

poro i feel like that must have been you driving 😉

    • Scruff 815 says:

Wow, that blue guy is pretty awesome. I once splattered someone in mid-air with the underside of a rotating grenade-hit Warthog but this clip really takes the proverbial biscuit! 😀

  4. mickoboy90 says:

easy peasy challenges. gonna play more reach today as i only need about 200k to reach noble rank 🙂

im also goin to send few videos to fails of the weak, feel free to chech them put.. they are on my fileshare

  5. JustHawkeye says:

Dr higglestein, you could join me for endure if you want. I think I can round up enough people. The question is when is it a good time for everyone?

    • JustHawkeye, i could do it tomorrow anytime between 11am – 2pm Eastern Time. Thats when im on the xbox while my son is at school. Its hard for me to do anything like that with 2 kids runnin around gettin wild. LoL!

      • SensoryFour34 says:

I can understand that. The problem is, I’d like to join in, and I have school at that time too, so that wouldn’t work for me. Besides, to get it we’d need one more person anyway.
