Commentary follows after the break…

Blastin’ and Relaxin’ – Kill 180 enemies in any game mode in Reach – 1350 cR

You’ve got a few choices for doing this really easily and quickly…

  • Forge – make a game with players spawning in one spot and camp it
  • Firefight – Download my Firefight Invincible game type on my File Share, lots of Elites, lots of medals, lots of kills
  • ONI: Sword Base – Use the Target Designator trick (run past everyone at the beginning, grab it, turn around, fire, wait for the killing to stop and restart the checkpoint)
  • Package – There are points where you can get a checkpoint just before a number of Grunts appear in the final battle, so you can gun them down and restart

Streaky Shooter – Earn 7 sprees in multiplayer Matchmaking – 1750 cR

This should apply to any spree, not just kills. So you can get sprees using:

  • Hammer
  • Shotgun
  • Sniper Rifle
  • Plasma Grenade sticks
  • Sword
  • Vehicles (two here – kills in vehicle where you do the killing, and kills as driver with passenger killing)
  • Spartan Laser
  • Assists
  • Some for specific variants of Juggernaut, Invasion and Infection

See the list on Halopedia for everything, especially as you can get 3 spree medals for each type. My recommendation – go for a weapon that allows you an easy spree, personally a Shotgun or Sword work for me. If you can take out 5 dudes you should get two sprees – one for 5 kills and one for the weapon (ie Grifball). Infection can be excellent for the number of medals you get per Zombie kill so if you can defend one position on your own or in a team you’ll get this easily.

Survivor – Earn 9 Sprees in a multiplayer Firefight Matchmaking game – 1000 cR

If you can get kills using weapons (ie 5 grenade sticks, a shotgun, sniper rifle etc) then you get nearer the total – use Score Attack to get a range of weapons. Beachhead is quite good as you can use the vehicles to get more sprees – and now on Firefight Arcade you’ve got a good chance of using a variety of weapons, lots of killing sprees and grenades and the like. I like hitting up Gruntpoc then getting the 5 killing sprees.

Go Right Ahead Folks – Earn a First Strike in a multiplayer Matchmaking game – 1000 cR

Team SWAT, Grifball or Infection are good game types to get this in. Infection & Grifball particularly because you get a First Strike in every round, so it’s giving you a good chance to pick up the medal. In Team SWAT, Asylum, Countdown or Sword Base are good for picking it up. On Asylum, zoom your DMR through the central arena and watch for the opposite team coming down their ramp. Countdown you can look through the central area and see the opposite team there, and on Sword Base go to the top of the green lift if you’re red, as blues usually come up the lift first. If you’re blue then go to the ramp up from your starting point as you can often snipe someone who doesn’t expect it.

Ok, one game of infection, and a game or two of score attack. Well easy, but in 15 mins? I dont think so. I hope all the nice people from America are ok. Hang in there guys :O

And Matthew, for the title of the third challenge you put “in matchmaking” instead of “in firefight matchmaking”. I’ll forgive you if you ask nicely 🙂

  2. Scruff 815 says:

FF Arcade – ENGAGE. Cheap sniper spots here we come! For the remainder, it’ll be a day of Infection I guess, which is nice in a way, it’s been a while since I’ve played it. As usual if people want to buddy up blah blah blah. Also I got very scared at the idea of getting 9 sprees in one game of matchmaking.

Funny video time from a game of Invasion yesterday, and a lesson or two in how not to jack a Scorpion:
(sorry about the spelling, but ‘fail’ is now banned on XBL)

Finally; stay safe, American people ❤

    • gans42 says:

just make sure you get the invincible, otherwise youll wind up with 8 sprees.

also scruff and sir galahad, thanks for the safe wishes, it is much appreciated. im not trying to jinx anything, but this storm feels like the pistol from Halo CE: Nerfed. it doesnt seem to be hitting as hard as was predicted. hopefully it stays this way and i can rehook my xbox up today and get in some games with all you fine people

    • Speaking of Infection, my son just played a game and got 50 kills in 1 game, which is his best so far. Awesome thing is that he didnt camp. LoL. Thats the gametype he plays the most. 😉

      • Corporal Alexei says:

Dude, give that kid a medal! Hopefully I won’t run into him in a MM game. 🙂

      • Corporal Alexei says:

Oh, BTW Higs…………THANKS again for the 75g !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      • Your welcome! Yeah one time he got 35 kills in one game and i saved it. Needless to say it got overwritten when he finished that one! LOL!

  3. Noobwarrior523 says:

The storm wasn’t that bad….just the newscasters exaggerating again…..it can’t be that bad if they’re standing on the beach as its happening, that’s just for NY and NJ though, l heard it hit virginia and north carolina pretty hard.

  4. MJOLNIR Tester says:

Earn 9 Sprees in a Firefight Matchmaking game.

I do this in Score Attack Gruntpocalypse. Right after you hear Untouchable (5th kill spree) commit suicide with a grenade. Killing 40 more Grunts without dying will give you four more kill sprees for a total of 9.

    • gans42 says:

or you can use the plethora of stickies and get a corrected and go for the invincible without taking the coward’s way out and get 9 sprees all the same. trust me, a corrected and invincible are waaaaaaaay cooler than a suicide 😉

      • MJOLNIR Tester says:

        — “without taking the coward’s way out ”

It takes a brave man to throw himself on a grenade.

        — “or you can use the plethora of stickies and get a corrected and go for the invincible”

Too much work. Kill 50 Grunts, kill self, kill 40 more Grunts, done.

      • gans42 says:

i’d agree with you about the bravery thing IRL. diving on a grenade to save your buddies takes some major cajones, but to throw a grenade with the intent of killing yourself isnt brave. furthermore, youre gonna have to kill all the enemies anyways (unless 10 lives isnt enough for you to make it through a game of gruntpoc), and sticking grunts really isnt that hard

      • MJOLNIR Tester says:

Um,it’s just a game. Talking about “a coward’s way out” in a video game is kind of silly. I thought you would get the joke when I said it takes a brave man to throw himself on a grenade, but I guess it went *whoosh* right over your head.

        — “unless 10 lives isnt enough for you to make it through a game of gruntpoc”

Lame attempt at a dig. I usually get through gruntpocalypse with zero or one deaths. My Firefight perfectionist commendation is at 145. But again, dude, it’s just a video game. There is no bravery or “cowardice” *rolls eyes*.

    • The way i got my 9 sprees in FF was in a game of Score Attack Fiesta Attack. I spawned with the Energy Sword and Grenade Launcher. I got Cutting Crew, which is 3 sprees altogether, Sunday Driver, which is 3 sprees, then the normal sprees you get just for getting kills, Killing Spree, Rampage, Invincible, etc. 😉

  5. SensoryFour34 says:

Pretty easy challenges today. I got the First Strike without even trying. The seven sprees is going to be the hardest, but it still isn’t that bad.

Also, I finally hit Field Marshall last night. 😀 Now I can just totally forget about ranking up since it’s gonna be another 700k until Hero.

    • gans42 says:

congrats on ranking up sensory! youll realize it really doesnt take that long once you learn not to pay attention to the progress bar. when you dont focus on it in a few weeks youll be like “whoa im about to rank up! sweet!” well…as long as you avoid playing custom games with me 😉

    • FM to Hero takes forEVER.

surprisingly, i’m feeling like it isn’t taking too long to go from Mythic to Noble.

      • gans42 says:

i know what youre talking about snick. i think its the generous and easy weeklies

      • ehh. i don’t think the 5k from the dailies is really doing it but i feel like it’s because i get more for completion now or something. i don’t know, really. i kind of miss the days where 5k cR would move the bar halfway across the screen though. 😉

      • gans42 says:

I wasn’t talking bout the dailies. I was referring specifically to the weeklies (2x ride the wave and this week). You get a lot of credits just going for those. And yeah…I miss when I would see the bar move. I haven’t looked at it since FM lol

  6. crazybydefault says:

I almost died when I saw “Earn 9 sprees in a multiplayer Matchmaking game.” But I knew Survivor was a FF-related challenge, so that kept me alive 😛

Anyways, pretty easy challenges today! Even with all of the chores I have to do today, I should still be able to complete them all!

    • SensoryFour34 says:

I know what you mean. When I saw it, I knew that it had to be wrong because the only time I’ve been anywhere near nine sprees was in Grifball when the other team was horrible and I got seven Killing Sprees and a few Hammer Sprees. Nine sprees in Firefight is a lot easier!

      • crazybydefault says:

I actually got 12 sprees in one game of Infection a little bit ago. 2 Killing Sprees, 2 Zombie Killing Sprees, 2 Killing Frenzies, 2 Hell’s Janitors, a Running Riot, a Hell’s Jerome, a Shotgun Spree, and an Open Season. It made me happy 😛

I usually get around 7 or 8 in one FF game. Depending on my luck with sticking enemies, I might get that ninth!

  7. 343i is saying that the title update for Halo: Reach is due out sometime in October. I didnt know if this was old news or not since the last i heard was it was due out in September.

  8. Jesse says:

Found this vid. Amazing exploration of a “glitch”.
