For delays…

Posts might be delayed whilst I’m out of town on business, if you need advice the best thing I suggest is to use the search box at the top of the page to look up the challenge names.

Keep gunning and getting those challenges.

I’m bored right now… so here are today’s challenges in detail:

Blastin’ and Relaxin’ – Kill 180 enemies in any game mode in Reach – 2343cR

If you’re going for just this challenge you’ve got a few choices for doing this really easily and quickly…

-Forge – make a game with players spawning in one spot and camp it
-Firefight – Download my Firefight Invincible game type on my File Share, lots of Elites, lots of medals, lots of kills
-ONI: Sword Base – Use the Target Designator trick (run past everyone at the beginning, grab it, turn around, fire, wait for the killing to stop and restart the checkpoint)
-Package – There are points where you can get a checkpoint just before a number of Grunts appear in the final battle, so you can gun them down and restart

    Or simply complete following challenge:

Hyper Lethal Vector – Kill 200 enemies with headshots in Firefight Matchmaking – 3000cR

200 is a lot, but I’d say do two 2X Score Attack or Gruntpocalypse matches somewhere for up to 120-130 headshots in each. Should you need to top a few kills jump into a Crash Site/Generator Defense to get however many headshots you need.

If It Bleeds… – Find and kill the Gold Range-class Elite in any Campaign mission on Normal or harder – 5000 cR

New challenge title, easier difficulty, bigger credit return. Your best bet is Winter Contingency from Rally Point Alpha. Follow this excellent guide (http://www.bungie.net/Forums/posts.aspx?postID=49058984&postRepeater1-p=1) to find the Gold Elite on all levels, or this comment from MJOLNIR Tester (https://reachdailychallenges.wordpress.com/2011/04/12/12th-april-reach-daily-challenges-commentary/#comment-3104) previously about finding him quickly on WC.

    Make a Wish… – Earn a Running Riot in a multiplayer Matchmaking game – 5000 cR

15 guys in a row without dying. That’s not to say 15 within a few seconds, but in the span of one ‘life’. Not the easiest, but they’ve upped the credit return which is good. Best advice? Grifball is always a good place if you can get your timing right and watch for betrayals. Juggernaut’s another good one. Infection can be good if you can get a decent team of humans together, but it’s hard to get 15 in the short space of time. In theory you can get this in any mode, it’s just harder to do it without dying in most variants. I expect everyone will have their own thoughts on this so please share in the comments.

I think you recognised that I just copied this from previous threads… 😉 nevermind..

The payout seems to rise lately… ie 5000 for the bob quite a lot. But I’m the last person complaining about that.

    cheers!

    😦 but i like being spoonfed…
    I changed my spartans look… It’s like scruffs… I like scruffs…

  3. Sir Galahad 63 says:

And holy crap! Nearly 15 000cR for today’s challenges!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. Woody says:

OH MY GOSH!!! If 343i keeps dishing out these kind of payouts for dailies this week, then it’s going to seem we’re going weekly totals each day. I’m so in love with 343i right now. LoL

What amazes me more is the fact that these challenges are easy. Well, the Running Riot challenge in MM maybe difficult for me, since I’ve only done it twice. That’s going to suck to potential lose out on 5,000 credits for that challenge.

    • Krandyt says:

Me too woody there little chance of me getting a running riot so I’ll probably just do an arcade fight to bag 5000 credits to make up for it.

      • André says:

Same here 2 riots I will get the others though.

      • Woody says:

I know I got one of the Running Riots from a successful Juggernaut match, but I don’t see that game variant nowdays. I wish I could remember where I got the other one from, because I would try my luck with that game. Oh well… I guess my best chance for 15 kills would be Infection, but I think the most kills I’ve ever had in a row in that game was eleven… and that was once.

      • Danny says:

I’d say Living Dead is the best one for the riot, or Grifball if you do really good and chill at their spawn and kill them

      • Krandyt says:

The few I’ve had before have been in infection but I know that because it’s a challenge I won’t get it, got one on grifball last night but that was spawn killing with 2 AFK on their team.

  5. ITS ZAPHOX says:

does anyone know where to get the damn gold elite…. ive been running WC but no luck, please assist

    • Justin says:

Start at Rally Point Alpha, for me he is usually inside the left-hand side garage in that first house you drive to/through. If not he will be on the cliff leading to the soldiers or in between those two places, but on Normal I almost always find him in that first house.

      • SensoryFour34 says:

You could also try Nightfall. He’s right in the Powerhouse area. He’s there every time if you look hard enough. It only takes about three or four shots to put him down.

      • ITS ZAPHOX says:

thanks a lot! finally got him, he didnt spawn until I put it on legendary

        thanks for the help

    • your mom says:

wc rally point alpha kill some skirmishers so he appears on heroic no skulls

  6. xXMaster SoulXx says:

Could someone do a quick post of the challenges for today since Matthew is out right now?

  7. SensoryFour34 says:

Well as much as I want 5000 credits, Gears comes out today, and I’ve never gotten a Running Riot, so there’s no point trying. But 5000 to find a BoB! There’s no way I can pass that up! I’m really loving 343 right now! 😀

  8. lolGTFOplz says:

Blastin’ and Relaxin’: Kill 180 enemies in any game mode in Reach. 2343cR

Hyper Lethal Vector: Kill 200 enemies with headshots in Firefight Matchmaking. 3000cR

If It Bleeds…: Find and kill the Gold Range-class Elite in any Campaign mission on Normal or harder. 5000cR

    Make a Wish…: Earn a Running Riot in a multiplayer Matchmaking game . 5000cR

    • Phatal Flaw says:

imho, best way to beat these (might as well get the blog done anyways :P):

Blastin’ and Relaxin’: If you have the time, spend it playing MM games! The cR returns will be much higher than 2343! If you don’t have the time spend it in Griffball, play with a friend so the games don’t end quickly, 50 kills a game isn’t unheard of!

Hyper Lethal Vector: Gruntpocalypse will be your easiest option with this one, unfortunately there aren’t 200 grunts in this variant, so you’ll have to play at least two games 😦

If It Bleeds…: Thanks to Justin, he says in WC you can “Start at Rally Point Alpha, for me he is usually inside the left-hand side garage in that first house you drive to/through. If not he will be on the cliff leading to the soldiers or in between those two places, but on Normal I almost always find him in that first house.”

alternatively, SensoryFour34 says: “You could also try Nightfall. He’s right in the Powerhouse area. He’s there every time if you look hard enough. It only takes about three or four shots to put him down.”

Make a Wish…: This one is going to be kind of tough, 15 kills in a row without dying in a MM game? I’ve only had two in my career…Find a friend, or 7! If you have 7 this will be a piece of cake, just take turns getting the challenge, you should be able to do all 8 people’s challenge in the game if you do it right! Or, if you only have less than 7 friends, do the Free-for-all variant (the name escapes me right now) and have your friend(s) run to you, so you can kill them and try not to die before the magical 15!

(don’t mean to hijack the blog, but I know I look forward to this every day!)

      • gans42 says:

its not highjacking, its contributing. the comments are for people to put their thoughts. and a few comments on what you said, you said play MM to go for the 180 kills, you really dont need to actively go for it, youll get it by doing the other questions (i.e. 200 headshots). also you have some good suggestions about a RR, i would add grifball (check my advice down below) also infection for people in to that sort of thing

    • xXMaster SoulXx says:

Thank You very much lolGTFOplz you saved my day!!!

  9. aeoliant says:

The best way to get a running riot imo is to play team slayer. squad slayer and big team have too many people, whereas swat, snipers and invasion make it too easy to die. Just wait till you have a 3-5 kill spree going and then ‘acquire’ a power weapon (personally I prefer the sword) and keep it until it’s out of ammo. If you camp properly you should be up around 12-14. (sword is 10 kills, watch for stickies though) Then for the remaining kills just stick with your team and teamshot. Always hang around the back, never go in first. and don’t engage the armour lock kids except by surprise. gl

alternatively just go buck wild on zombitches

    • gans42 says:

but camping with power weapons is really lame and doesnt take skill, its nooby. thats the reason i dont play regular slayer modes…players that cant get kills legit hide in a corner with a power weapon of sorts, you turn a corner, and blamo, you dont have a face anymore.

      • aeoliant says:

there’s nothing nooby about 5000 cR… and your insinuations aren’t appreciated.

however, your testimony is. the whole point of this strategy is that the opponent has little to no chance.

      • Scruff 815 says:

        Grenades + corners = deathnoob.

Admittedly the ‘camping with a power weapon’ thing is a little lame, but it is a perfectly justifiable way to get today’s challenge done. 🙂

      • gans42 says:

@aeoliant: I wasnt saying that your suggestion isnt a good way to get the challenge, I was saying that its a really lame and cheap way to play. do something impressive in swat (or another game mode that gives every player an equal opportunity) and ill be impressed. the whole camp with power weapons is the reason so many people dont play double team. theres an unspoken rule “get the lead, then hide with power weapons, if found catch em by surprise with a rocket to the gonads then move again” it ruins the game

  10. Aslans Roar says:

Great payouts today – thanks 343!

yeah, running riot not likely – only have 5 career ones, but Grifball is most likely, we’ll see . . . but probably just 3/4 today for me.

To find a BOB it seems easier on Heroic or Legendary – I always find one in WC on Heroic in the first few minutes after rally point alpha.

  11. Woody says:

The Running Riot challenge will definitely cause me to up my statistics in MM, because I’m going to give it a few tries… mainly in Infection. So the effort alone will help increase my credits and playtime.

    • gans42 says:

the best way in my opinion to get a RR is to play grifball and grab the bomb. youre ensured that your teammates wont score because youll have the bomb, additionally, take your time, as bomb carrier everyone will come after you. just know where your teammates are, and only take out hammer guys (unless theres a lone swordsman and you have full health and shields). additionally, if you know who has host, avoid him like the plague, he will kill you 99% of the time. im actually gonna be on later (like 5PM EST) if people wanna join me to make a full team of 4 (or a full party of 8), let me know

      • lolGTFOplz says:

Gans i’m trying to contact a few of my friends and maybe we can set something up to get a full party of 8 and get the challenge easily and stress free?

      • gans42 says:

one other thing about playing grifball, dont go past mid court, otherwise youll get screwed if your teammates get killed and your left alone behind enemy lines. i personally stick around midfield, strafing between the health packs. which brings me to my last point…ALWAYS grab health packs. even if your health is yellow, and after 4 seconds youll be back to full health and shields. you never want to be caught without full health and shields. one host hammer shot from a sizable difference will F you up

      • gans42 says:

        sounds good GTFO

      • Woody says:

Sounds good…. I will be available at that time.

      • lolGTFOplz says:

alright cool, i might be a little after 5, more around 5:30, i get out of work then, if ya’ll dont have it by then we’ll work on it. 🙂

      • SensoryFour34 says:

I would join, but I don’t care that much, and I need to get Gears today anyways. Sorry, I’m gonna be playing as little Reach as I can for a while. Don’t miss me too much. 😉

  12. crazybydefault says:

Oh fun. Getting a Running Riot? Looks like Multi-Team non-objective playing for me! I only have 5, so this should be interesting…

    • lolGTFOplz says:

77 for me, but even with getting it that many times i know its going to be stressful. lol

      • gans42 says:

i have 14, but i dont think ill have a problem…when i actually go for it i can get it. thing is when i play i dont like sitting and waiting, i like to be more aggressive (it works for my K/D and lack of patience/hatred of camping, but not my sprees)

      • Woody says:

Seventy-seven?! What the….?! I need to know your secrets to achieving such madness. LoL

      • lolGTFOplz says:

camping is my secret woody. as much as its going to hurt gans for me to say that. lol i camp everywhere, trees, behind corners. in corners. lol. up at the top of the glass of boardwalk with a sniper. that’s my strategy, even though its not playing the game like its “supposed to be played” its what i do. 😛

      • Shane says:

Sniping’s a legitimate strategy. Bloody annoying if you’re as bad at it as me though 🙂

      • SensoryFour34 says:

Yay for me! Not really. I don’t have a single one! I just tend to have more fun running in shooting than avoiding people and only killing them when I can get away with it. That’s why I hardly ever use the sniper. That, and I’m horrible with it. 😉

      • gans42 says:

GTFO i wont kill you, a sniper (and other precision weapons, but mostly snipers) arent meant for running and gunning (except for maybe team snipers on reflection 😉 ) theres a huge difference with hiding in the back of the map with a sniper than behind a corner with a shotgun. one of those requires skill to kill players, the other requires no conscience

      • crazybydefault says:

Nice! I would have a LOT more than five, but usually a) the game ends before I get there or b) Host migration.

I actually approve of camping with a sniper. I disapprove of camping otherwise!

      • gans42 says:

        ^ what this guy said

  13. Anonymous says:

Anonymous here (in honor of Matthew gone). But you might recognize me…

Got a few running riots under my belt – most of them through vehicles and long-range weaponry. I suggest getting the Wraith, Scorpion or Banshee. Or if you are good at being the gunner on a Warthog, go for it! If you are good with the sniper, then have at it on Hemorrhage or other big maps.

Your 15 kills doesn’t have to be with one weapon. So if your Wraith is billowing blue fire and you’re only at 8 kills, it might be safer to get out and use another tactic.

  14. Scruff 815 says:

Do not need Running Riot. Got the other 3 done, and 4 yesterday – it’s not going to be a struggle to get 3 more challenges done this week. Thankfully.

A little tip if you are going to go for it though – try going into Action Sack and getting Hog Potato. While all of your buddies go crazy with Warthogs, you hang back with the sniper rifle and kill people. Getting the full 15 can be a little tricky depending on time but it IS do-able.

Though yay and well done to 343. I am very much loving these increased payouts 🙂

  15. markob says:

I’ve gotten a couple in Rocket Hog Race with two friends on my team who drive for the downed teams and keep away from clusterfucks. Still possible to get ganked, obviously, but it can be pretty viable and fun.

  16. thehunter2509 says:

Just got the running riot, I recommend BTB, go active camo and get the sniper. Stay by sniper spawn spot and get some snipes. Got the challenge in first game and I got a perfection

  17. famallama says:

I have 3 riots i believe… all from using the wraith on hemmorage btb lol.

  19. Brady Cook says:

Made this for if it bleeds challenge, enjoy!

  20. John says:

Finally got a perfectionist commendation in FF with 500 rounds completed without dying…so many rounds I died to a very luck grenade throw or similar I never thought I’d get this although I doubt I’ll get any of the higher ones.

    • Dogmeat says:

Arcade is the way to go! Score attack is too lengthy for one round and lets all the enemies focus on coming after you alone. You’ll have a lot of success if you always keep a clear area to fall back to, preferably that provides protection from heretic waves (particularly the second and third rounds). When they show up, you retreat! Let your teammates die repeatedly. Just worry about the elites that come looking for you in your sanctuary. When they’re cleared, you can emerge to once again assist in the onslaught of covenant. Also make sure you’re not caught in the middle of several spots where groups of reinforcements are known to appear.

    • André says:

Congrats! 110 for me (I need to work on that one) I have 6 onyx max FF commendations multikill, headshots etc. 5000/8000 for perfectionist onyx/max is ridiculous!
