12th January – Halo Reach Daily Challenges & Commentary

I’m still working through Arkham City. Around 80% so far, and I am loving the Campaign challenges (3 sets of challenges together), great fun and less frustrating than doing them individually I’m finding. I am immensely pleased I’ve cleared everything in the city, the fact that Riddler trophies took involvement to unlock even when you’d found them made it a much more interesting experience than just finding 100 X items in a city (I’m looking at boxes in GTA, feathers in Assassin’s Creed and kittens in Superman Returns!).

Today’s challenges are:

  1. Covenant-cide – Kill 120 enemies in Firefight Matchmaking – 3200 cR
  2. Hyper Lethal Vector – Kill 100 enemies with headshots in Firefight Matchmaking – 3000 cR
  3. Just Holdout – Kill 150 enemies on Holdout in Firefight Matchmaking – 2500 cR
  4. Weapon Swap – Earn 10 sprees in a Firefight Matchmaking game on Heroic or harder – 2000 cR

Commentary follows after the break…

Covenant-cide – Kill 120 enemies in Firefight Matchmaking – 3200 cR

You could do this in one game of Gruntpocalypse, 2X Score Attack or some of the other variants. 2X is good because you’re likely to get slightly more than 120 so it takes account of TKs from the Covvies.

Hyper Lethal Vector – Kill 100 enemies with headshots in Firefight Matchmaking – 3000 cR

Gruntpocalypse and 2x Score Attack are great ways of doing this, you should be looking to get a lot of headshots in a game, especially if it’s on a simple map where you can line up the Grunts, like Corvette or Courtyard. If you get to a high number rather than doing a whole game again jump in Crashsite or Generator Defense and only defend until you have your total then give up the goal.

Just Holdout – Kill 150 enemies on Holdout in Firefight Matchmaking – 2500 cR

So you’re probably looking at two games of anything here – if you can get into Firefight Arcade on your own or with one other you might get this, but you might as well whizz through Gruntpocalypse, 2x Score Attack or something twice.

Weapon Swap – Earn 10 sprees in a Firefight Matchmaking game on Heroic or harder – 2000 cR

Sprees are hard for weapons, especially in Firefight. I reckon Gruntpocalypse or some other easy Score Attack variant, get the 50 kills medal, then die and do another 50. You get 120 kills in Gruntpoc so it’s an easy way to do it. Alternatively use the Shotgun for three, sticky grenades, Swords, Hammers and anything else you can that gives a spree (this list on Halopedia shows all Spree medals available) to top up the killing sprees as well.

Pop quiz everyone! With the weekly challenge being ever so close to being completed (some will today, myself tomorrow) and being so juicy (30343cR, can i get an amen!?) who can tell me how many credits are allowed in the challenge column in post game summary before it maxes out and you lose out on those ever so important cR?

    • Dogmeat says:

The amount you want to avoid exceeding for the challenges “bucket” is 32,767 cr.

      • Dogmeat says:

So if you will be completing the weekly today, save the “weapon swap” daily challenge for last and in a game by itself! Doing so will ensure no credits are lost.

      • Scrimjaw says:

Thanks for this Dogmeat! I would have been PO’s to miss out on the full credits after completing tonight!

        Good form mate, thank you.

  2. Got lucky yesterday on the fireball challenge, did it on uncaged and got even luckier on powerhouse and scored a hard to come by extermination. There is a downside to a team working together, you can all be blown up at the same time with the rocket launcher. 🙂

    • Kudos to you for doin it in slayer. I did mine in Multi-Team KOTH by spamming grenades into the huge firefight around the hill. While I congratulate you on the Exterm, working together and being all clumped together are different things entirely.

      • What happened was I was inside the building where the metal bridge is, one guy was beside the wall on the other side, I blasted him and the 3 others came running towards me across that metal bridge (above where you pick up the rocket launcher) Boom they were down.

I did mine on Countdown using my very trusty plasma grenades. Wooo stickies

    • SensoryFour34 says:

Mine was Slayer Pro on Penance. Everyone was grenade spamming the whole game. You could hardly turn a corner without running into a grenade.

    • BJ2603 says:

Bro Slayer (when it was still a playable gametype) was good for exterms. That’s where my only two have come from.

  3. Rossco says:

I played 3 rounds of slayer going negative each round trying to get grenade challenge. Then my first elite slayer round on reflection I went 26-12 with 12 plasma grenade kills and two triple kills. It was a pain in the ass but all in all challenge complete. I will have 12 daily challenges completed today so hopefully will have the weekly tommorrow since I was away monday.

*yawn* again? I’m seriously considering getting a topic on the waypoint forums started to stop this S***!

I mean I,be just seen these in the week earlier and although they make a good bunch to carry on accumulating for the Weekly…they aren’t much to work your skills around. Anyway, thanks for keeping it up Matthew 🙂

    • BJ2603 says:

I think the rotation of challenges are very user friendly, if 343 set them too hard it would discourage gamers with less skill. I cry when a LASO is the weekly lol

Easy day, annoying holdout that finally came up as a choice. If it weren’t for that I enjoy firefight I’d totally skip it. So far 12/16. hoping for some easy/cool challenges tomorrow.
