7th February – Halo Reach Daily Challenges & Commentary

Decision has been made. I am not going to see Episode 1 in 3D at the cinema. Episode 3 I might do. The original trilogy, yeah there’s a good chance. But I own it on BluRay, I don’t like 3D films – wearing 3D glasses on top of my normal glasses is a complete pain plus I hate that you’re charged extra (taxed) to see them, and frankly, it’s Episode 1. I might be a big Star Wars fan, but I’ve got better things to throw £10 at.

Today’s challenges are:

  1. Covenant-cide – Kill 120 enemies in Firefight Matchmaking – 3200 cR
  2. Survivor – Earn 7 Sprees in a Firefight Matchmaking game – 2000 cR
  3. Huck It, Luck It – Complete a Campaign mission on Heroic with Cloud, Tough Luck, and Catch on – 2000 cR
  4. Killing Spree – Earn a Killing Spree in multiplayer Matchmaking – 2000 cR

Commentary follows after the break…

Covenant-cide – Kill 120 enemies in Firefight Matchmaking – 3200 cR

You could do this in one game of Gruntpocalypse, 2X Score Attack or some of the other variants. 2X is good because you’re likely to get slightly more than 120 so it takes account of TKs from the Covvies.

Survivor – Earn 7 Sprees in a Firefight Matchmaking game – 2000 cR

You get 120 kills in Gruntpoc so it’s an easy way to do it. If you can get kills using weapons (ie 5 grenade sticks, a shotgun, sniper rifle etc) then you get nearer the total – use Score Attack to get a range of weapons. Beachhead is quite good as you can use the vehicles to get more sprees – and now on Firefight Arcade you’ve got a good chance of using a variety of weapons, lots of killing sprees and grenades and the like. I like hitting up Gruntpoc then getting the 5 killing sprees.

Huck It, Luck It – Complete a Campaign mission on Heroic with Cloud, Tough Luck, and Catch on – 2000 cR

I’m giving exactly the same advice as every optional Campaign mission challenge – run Nightfall, get this done in 10 minutes, tops. As a guide to Nightfall speed run I’ve picked this video off Youtube randomly, but there are hundreds like it. In fact we have further options and details on the time we did it in LASO on this Weekly Challenge page and comments. There are other levels you may be more familiar with, but honestly, you can do this in 5-6 minutes with minimal stress.

Killing Spree – Earn a Killing Spree in multiplayer Matchmaking – 2000 cR

A Killing Spree in MP is killing 5 people without dying. Grifball and Rumble Pit are my two suggestions, since they’re both pretty easy to go on a run without dying, especially if you can play Juggernaut and then be the Juggernaut. Infection’s good when you’re human, Invasion’s good if the opposition just run at you and you work as a team.

^^ That 50000 cR payout jackpot sounds good, but I don’t play team slayer usually, I like BTB. I usually find TS is just armor lockers. In the feb update they say AL and Camo will be changed, I wonder how? Even less AL time like 3 sec invul?, but camo is already crap. I like it but you have to move SUPER SLOWLY.

I think you misread it. They were just explaining what the TU changes were. They are just adding TU to Team Slayer. Other than that, it’s not changing at all.

    • Dogmeat says:

With the TU, armor lock can’t protect you any more from plasma grenades if you get stuck BEFORE you activate it! I typed that last sentence with the biggest grin on my face! 😀 It still lasts a number of seconds, but it will get used up faster (fewer seconds than normal) if you are shooting the player or lobbing grenades at him while armor lock is activated. Camo won’t last as long when not moving. I think it used to be like a full minute…not sure how long it lasts now. And TU hasn’t gone into effect for team slayer. They are having a
2-week voting to see which gametype (TU or vanilla) people most prefer in team slayer. The credit jackpot is incentive to have more people play that gametype to ensure the most reliable voting figures when arriving at their final decision to institute TU or not.
