24th February – Halo Reach Daily Challenges & Commentary

I watched a film called Sucker Punch last night. Some of you might have already seen it. The action sequences were very much like a video game, girls in not many clothes jumping around with swords and guns. Sadly that’s the best thing I can say about it. Zack Snyder’s films definitely look good, but he needs strong writing material to make something of quality perhaps.

Today’s challenges are:

  1. Light Fare – Kill 100 enemies in any game mode in Reach – 3000 cR
  2. Nature vs Nurture – Kill 15 Moa in Winter Contingency on Normal or harder – 4000 cR
  3. Neuroscience – Kill 10 enemies with headshots in a multiplayer Matchmaking game – 2400 cR
  4. Un, Deux, Trois – Win 3 games in multiplayer Matchmaking – 2900 cR

Commentary follows after the break…

Light Fare – Kill 100 enemies in any game mode in Reach – 3000 cR

If you want to do this specifically (as you’ll get it just playing for the other challenges) then jump into something on Score Attack, maybe Gruntpocalypse, 2X Score Attack or Fiesta Attack to get it done quickly and rack up the kills.

Nature vs Nurture – Kill 15 Moa in Winter Contingency on Normal or harder – 4000 cR

The Moa are scattered through the first two sections of Winter Contingency, one melee and they drop like a bag of stones. Last time we had this challenge we found you can even do it in Nightfall, go to Rally Point Alpha, run through the valley and you come across a group of four with a checkpoint before them. On Winter Contingency, two run around the corner when starting the mission so you can always just restart that, but I think you may have to sit through the Falcon flight to do so unless you can trigger a checkpoint. There are some more when you first fight Elites, and then more as you drive the truck around the place. You can run them over but it’s harder, I suggest jumping out and shooting or punching them. I reckon there are 15 in the level but a quick two runs would easily get this. I bet somewhere there’s a useful checkpoint just before a group of them too.

Neuroscience – Kill 10 enemies with headshots in a multiplayer Matchmaking game – 2400 cR

Play on Team SWAT for this, where about 97.7% of kills should be headshots with one shot. Don’t forget if you shoot someone in the body you can still shoot them in the head for the headshot. Keep your reticule at head height as well.

Un, Deux, Trois – Win 3 games in multiplayer Matchmaking – 2900 cR

If you play a Team Slayer/SWAT/Grifball/Snipers/Action Sack etc you’ll get this easier, since only two teams gives you a higher chance of winning than the 6 person multi team (for instance). Make sure you read this Weekly Challenge commentary for more hints on doing it quick.

I got the Moa one for now. Alpha checkpoint: drive down and shot a row of Moa then restart checkpoint. Easy 4k!

    • André says:

I will try Nightfall next time. I didn’t know about that.

      • DaRoflBandit says:

This challenge HAS to be done on WC, read the description.

      • Matthew Vose says:

Dude, trust me. Try it on Nightfall. Certainly every time I’ve done it I can do it on NF and as below, I find it easier just to jump to RPA and get ‘er done 🙂

For tips on the third challenge you listed it as close quarters with tips on how to get them but the challenge is for precision weapons i.e. Dmr, sniper, focus rifle. Just play a game of swat or snipers and you should be able to get 10 kills in one game. As for the moa the easiest ive found is at the start of winter contigency, as soon as you run down the hill at the start of the lvl as you near the building there are 2 moa and you trigger a checkpoint right as you approach them just kill and restart check point takes maybe 20 seconds for the challenge. I used the target locator for the kills challenge as thats usually where i have the campaign saved due to all the challenges it can be used for as in killing elites or grunts on a certain number of kills or sprees so i got that one done in about 30 seconds as well add in a game of swat and it took me less than 10 min for 3 of the 4.

I actually was wrong as well its not just for precsion weapons but its for headshots so you can also use the magnum, and needle riffle. Again though swat or living dead would probally be the easiest and fastest way to get it done

  4. Rossco says:

I believe the moa challenge says to kill 15 on winter contingency. So nightfall wouldn’t even be an option. I also believe everytime this challenge has come up it has always had to be done on winter contingency. Will be an easy day of challenges nonetheless. But for those who plan on killing 15 moa I would do it on WC to be safe.

    Weekly almost complete 71/77

    • Matthew Vose says:

Yes it does say WC, but it’s easier on Nightfall IMO, and it’s always worked for me. Trust me, I’ve been doing this a while 😉

  5. Locklear66 says:

Yes you can get the Moa kills in nightfall like mathew sayes that is the only level I ever get them on

  6. fast way to the Moa challenge:

start WC at Rally Point Alpha, jump in the truck and drive straight to the first encounter with the jackals. if you get there fast enough you should run into a group of about 5 or 6 moa. just kill the jackals for a checkpoint and go hunting.

  7. Whats the current super jackpot playlist?
