2nd March – Halo Reach Daily Challenges & Commentary

I’m flying to Glasgow today to visit a friend. There might only be challenges in the next couple of days rather than full commentaries.

For my UK readers, you might have heard about the troubles that have befallen the high street retailer Game. I’ve written a couple of pieces for Pixel Perfect about it, but there’s some difficult times ahead for the store. It is the largest specialist retailer for video games in the country, a permanent advert for games, and a place that people can buy them easily, get advice on what to buy, and pay with cash. Hopefully it’ll be able to survive in some form!

Today’s challenges are:

  1. Fire When Ready – Kill 30 enemies in multiplayer Matchmaking 1100 cR
  2. T-Hug It Out – Kill 6 enemies with close quarters combat in a multiplayer Matchmaking game – 2400 cR
  3. Triple Thrill – Kill 6 enemies with close quarters combat in a multiplayer Matchmaking game – 2000 cR
  4. Put Your Quarter Up – Complete 10 games in multiplayer Matchmaking- 1500 cR

Commentary follows after the break…

Fire When Ready – Kill 30 enemies in multiplayer Matchmaking 1100 cR

As ever, Grifball, and you’ll get this in a game or two. Try and get at least one buddy to hold the bomb whilst you play for kills (and vengeance), or hold the bomb yourself and pick off the other team as they come at you with hammers.

T-Hug It Out – Kill 6 enemies with close quarters combat in a multiplayer Matchmaking game – 2400 cR

Close Quarters is a kill using melee, assassination, Shotgun, Energy Sword, Hammer and Golf Club. Infection can be useful, as that’s all CQC. If only there was a game type where you only used hammers and swords though? I say Grifball, as that’s all CQC as well, and easy to get lots and lots of kills. For other mode options, Action Sack’s Halo Ball Extreme is great, and Infection is almost all CQC bar the Pistol. Maps like Sword Base, Countdown and Reflection give you the Sword, Powerhouse sometimes the Hammer and Asylum the Shotgun. I tend to melee a lot anyway so this should come in one game.

Triple Thrill – Earn any 3 Sprees in a multiplayer Matchmaking game – 2000 cR

This should apply to any spree, not just kills. So you can get sprees using:

  • Hammer
  • Shotgun
  • Sniper Rifle
  • Plasma Grenade sticks
  • Sword
  • Vehicles (two here – kills in vehicle where you do the killing, and kills as driver with passenger killing)
  • Spartan Laser
  • Assists
  • Some for specific variants of Juggernaut, Invasion and Infection

See the list on Halopedia for everything. What’s easiest to get? Well trying to get 5 kills with a Hammer, Sword or Shotgun nets you two straight away. Through in some Grenade sticks and you’ll be there. Vehicles might be another easy way to do it in Invasion, team up with someone so you can work on your assist levels too. Grifball of course is a good one if you can get your Hammering eye in and take out a load of guys in a row. And although I’ve not tried it everyone says that Infection is really good if you can Shotgun 5 zombies that’s your three sprees done (shotgun, zombie and killing).

Put Your Quarter Up – Complete 10 games in multiplayer Matchmaking- 1500 cR

Complete these games. Don’t drop out. Get to the end of each. Just play through them. Doesn’t matter if you win or lose. Sorry, I can’t drag out this explanation any further. Is there a way of doing this quickly? Grifball can be very quick depending on if someone goes for the score straight away! Halo Ball can be quick, as can Infection, but Infection these days often lasts a while as Humans camp.

I’m guessing Challenge 3 isn’t suppose to be the same as Challenge 2?

  2. xXMaster SoulXx says:

Ahh i see you got it right in the commentary section. Anyways have fun in Glasgow!

Ok. Easiest + quickest way to do t-hug it out and triple thrill is Infection. If i am not mistaken, i am pretty sure shotgun counts as close quarters. If so, u get a killing spree, shotgun spree, and infection spree + the 5 close quarters get one more kill and wala! If your good enough, u could also get the 30 kills in the one game. Please correct me if im wrong bou the shotgun.

    • DaRoflBandit says:

The shotgun, energy sword, gravity hammer, golf club, and your standard melee are the 5 close quarters weapons that you can use.

      • André says:

I got so close many times in BTB, always something happen when I need like one kill. 8/10 games played then I’m done with weekly.

      • André says:

And then I get it halfway through the next game with the DMR. weekly done 🙂

Has 343 lost their minds? Seems like ever since they took over, the challenges are very repeditive for the most part and the credits you get for them really font match the difficulty of the challenges. Some easier ones are worth more than the harder ones. Anyone have any input?

    • Rossco says:

This has been noticed for a few months.everyone talks about the credit payouts for repeating challenges. I think this issue needs to be addressed to 343 or on a forum where the right set of eyes will read the feedback.

  5. Mr postman 117 says:

I totally agree! I mean 4000 credits for 5 mins of work vs 1500 for 20 mins or better. I just hope they dont end up changing slayer to all tu updates cause it will ruin halo for me. The game was made like it is for a reason. On another note, I love this site and the app as well! I check my challenges religiously every morning before I go to work so I know what I am in for when I get home
