16th March – Halo Reach Daily Challenges & Commentary

Not much on the Halo Bulletin to comment for Reach. For me the most interesting bit is that the Android app should now work with more phones. Other than that it’s mostly an info update on H4’s progress. They’re having a community playdate if you want to try and join them for some multiplayer. Check out the full thing on Waypoint.

Today’s challenges are:

  1. Fire When Ready – Kill 30 enemies in multiplayer Matchmaking – 1100 cR
  2. Now I Have A Machine Gun – Earn 20 kills with automatic weapons in multiplayer Matchmaking – 1000 cR
  3. Killing Spree – Earn a Killing Spree in multiplayer Matchmaking – 2000 cR
  4. The Magic Number – Complete 7 games in multiplayer Matchmaking – 3000 cR

Commentary follows after the break…

Fire When Ready – Kill 30 enemies in multiplayer Matchmaking – 1100 cR

As ever, Grifball, and you’ll get this in a game or two. Try and get at least one buddy to hold the bomb whilst you play for kills (and vengeance), or hold the bomb yourself and pick off the other team as they come at you with hammers.

Now I Have A Machine Gun – Earn 20 kills with automatic weapons in multiplayer Matchmaking – 1000 cR

Your multiplayer automatic weapons are the Assault Rifle, Needler, Plasma Repeater and Plasma Rifle. I’d recommend Team Slayer in Elite Slayer, so that you can use the Needler to take guys out. Rumble Pit can be really helpful too running around blazing the AR, but it’s tempting to pick up other weapons.

Killing Spree – Earn a Killing Spree in multiplayer Matchmaking – 2000 cR

A Killing Spree in MP is killing 5 people without dying. Grifball and Rumble Pit are my two suggestions, since they’re both pretty easy to go on a run without dying, especially if you can play Juggernaut and then be the Juggernaut. Infection’s good when you’re human, Invasion’s good if the opposition just run at you and you work as a team.

The Magic Number – Complete 7 games in multiplayer Matchmaking – 3000 cR

If you want quick game types, Infection and Grifball can be very very quick, so run through them a couple of times and you’re good.

Id sugest doing multi team and picking elite slayer or king of the hill. You have lots of Enemies to kill with the needler. i can usually get like 30 kills a game so you can take care of the automatic weapons and earn a killing spree and 30 kills all in 1 game.

Agreed. As Matthew has often pointed out, game types with only two teams are the best choice when the challenge involves *wins*. By the same logic, MultiTeam is often the best choice when the challenge involves *kills*. With four teams of three, you have nine enemies all crowded into a Slayer-sized map. And when the challenge involves *assists* (not today), you have eight players who can finish off your kill — your two teammates plus the six others who aren’t teammates of your intended victim.
