6th April – Halo Reach Daily Challenges & Commentary

Only two Reach updates in the Halo bulletin this week – custom challenge for the week is using the MAC Cannon at the end of Pillar of Autumn. If you set ‘Onager—15-cm Mark/2488 1.1GJ MAC’ as the weapon in your custom challenge you’ll get 10x the credits for it. This custom challenge was suggested by crazybydefault, who’s been a regular visitor and commenter here on RDC over the years, so mad props to him for the challenge!

Super Jackpot weekend is Arena. The main excitement here is that the super jackpot is 39,000 credits. Not a small amount. So I imagine you’ll see a lot of people in that gametype this weekend!

Today’s challenges are:

  1. Light Fare – Kill 100 enemies in any game mode in Reach – 3000 cR
  2. Double Double – Earn 2 Double Kills in the same match in Multiplayer Matchmaking 2000 cR
  3. Neuroscience – Kill 10 enemies with headshots in a multiplayer Matchmaking game – 2400 cR
  4. Go Right Ahead Folks – Earn a First Strike in a multiplayer Matchmaking game – 2000 cR

Commentary follows after the break…

Light Fare – Kill 100 enemies in any game mode in Reach – 3000 cR

If you want to do this specifically (as you’ll get it just playing for the other challenges) then jump into something on Score Attack, maybe Gruntpocalypse, 2X Score Attack or Fiesta Attack to get it done quickly and rack up the kills.

Double Double – Earn 2 Double Kills in the same match in Multiplayer Matchmaking 2000 cR

It’s been 4 months since we saw this challenge, and I know that because it’s the biggest pain to search for this challenge name on my site! 🙂 Double Kills are fairly easy to pick up,in Grifball especially. Multi Team will usually see you get 3 or 4, as you naturally get more people, closer together. Grenades and Heavy Weapons are your friend here. Really it’s whatever game you play well in.

Neuroscience – Kill 10 enemies with headshots in a multiplayer Matchmaking game – 2400 cR

Play on Team SWAT for this, where about 97.7% of kills should be headshots with one shot. Don’t forget if you shoot someone in the body you can still shoot them in the head for the headshot. Keep your reticule at head height as well.

Go Right Ahead Folks – Earn a First Strike in a multiplayer Matchmaking game – 2000 cR

Team SWAT, Grifball or Infection are good game types to get this in. Infection & Grifball particularly because you get a First Strike in every round, so it’s giving you a good chance to pick up the medal. In Team SWAT, Asylum, Countdown or Sword Base are good for picking it up. On Asylum, zoom your DMR through the central arena and watch for the opposite team coming down their ramp. Countdown you can look through the central area and see the opposite team there, and on Sword Base go to the top of the green lift if you’re red, as blues usually come up the lift first. If you’re blue then go to the ramp up from your starting point as you can often snipe someone who doesn’t expect it.

  1. I don’t know how to set up custom challenges, I went to Halo Waypoint but don’t see how to do it. Can anybody give an old man simple instructions?

    • DaRoflBandit says:

Go to the challenges page on your profile. below there will be a option to create your own challenge below the daily challenges. Then just follow the instructions on how to set it up.

    • AmadeusMop says:

      1. Go to Halo Waypoint
      2. Log in
      3. Click on the tab with your gamertag on it
      4. Click on “Challenges”
      5. Scroll down past the Reach daily and weekly challenges.
      6. Click “Create custom Challenge”
You may need to change or upgrade your browser to see it.

    • Got it!!!!! 🙂 Thanks, didn’t think to click on my gamer tag. 😦 I just got to Reclaimer and need all the help I can get to make it to Inheritor, it looks like it’s about 3,500,000 to get there if I’m reading this right. 😮

  2. Mr schism says:

I have recently got xbox live again and was wondering if was wise for me to get halo reach do people, do people still play firefight on matchmaking and can you get a good multiplaying experence without buying all the dlc cheers!

  3. Mr schism says:

I think i’ll order a copy then, might see you on firefight matchmaking. i’ll be the guying dying alot (at first at least!).

    • DaRoflBandit says:

You should play through the Campaign first, just to get to know the game and how it plays at the very least.

    • Knifekilljoy69 says:

I think schism u need to work on ur english first.

      • Ramses L. Smuckles says:

Wow, killjoy, they certainly weren’t lying when they named you 🙄

  4. Dogmeat says:

To offer a 39,000 credit super jackpot, the jackpot “bucket” must not have the same limitation as the daily/weekly challenges “bucket” where the max you could earn from a single game was 32,767 cr.

  5. Ramses L. Smuckles says:

Well, thanks to Metal Zangief’s comment yesterday, I completed the challenge today. Note that it takes a while on Normal because you’re limited to 2 Phantoms and 1 Banshee per enemy spawn (roughly every 30 seconds) with the occasional curious Banshee flying in from sprite-land for an easy death. Thus, if you have the skills, higher difficulty is the way to go for a quicker playthrough (versus 118 kills on Normal).
