16th April – Halo Reach Daily Challenges & Commentary

With the recent reveals about Halo 4 I’ve been thinking what I really want to know about the game. And pretty much all I’m looking to find out is a release date, any collector/limited edition details, and a price. Anything on the story and the development of the game could well do more to turn me off. Do you guys have anything you’re looking forward to seeing about it?

Today’s challenges are:

  1. Covenant-cide – Kill 120 enemies in Firefight Matchmaking – 3200 cR
  2. Flat Tire – Kill 5 enemy vehicles in Firefight Matchmaking – 2000 cR
  3. J.H. Death Machine – Kill 70 enemies in Firefight Matchmaking with the Grenade Launcher – 1250 cR
  4. The Magic Number – Complete 7 games in multiplayer Matchmaking – 3000 cR

Commentary follows after the break…

Covenant-cide – Kill 120 enemies in Firefight Matchmaking – 3200 cR

You could do this in one game of Gruntpocalypse, 2X Score Attack or some of the other variants. 2X is good because you’re likely to get slightly more than 120 so it takes account of TKs from the Covvies.

Flat Tire – Kill 5 enemy vehicles in Firefight Matchmaking – 2000 cR

Key to point out is you must destroy the vehicle, not the driver first. You’re better off using something explosive (Spartan Laser, Plasma Launcher). The Anniversary Firefight map, Installation 04, seems pretty good for Banshees, they appear pretty often. The best options outside of that are below.

  • Score Attack – On Holdout you get Banshees in the rounds. If you can keep a Grunt alive at the end of a wave for a long time you have a higher chance of getting them to come out again and again. They don’t tend to appear when it’s raining
  • Firefight Doubles – Especially Beachhead, where vehicles are usually dropped at the beginning and end of each round, you can decide who gets to take them out and work on it (plus great for working on assists)

J.H. Death Machine – Kill 70 enemies in Firefight Matchmaking with the Grenade Launcher – 1250 cR

Score Attack for this one. One of the loadouts is the Grenade Launcher, so grab that and go nuts. The waves are Grunts, Jackals, Brutes, Skirmishers and finally Elites.

The Magic Number – Complete 7 games in multiplayer Matchmaking – 3000 cR

If you want quick game types, Infection and Grifball can be very very quick, so run through them a couple of times and you’re good.

I think one of the main things I want to know about halo4 is if they are gona use the reach matchmaking engine or make a new one. I
Realy don’t want to have to try and rank up all over again. I know some of you guys on here are allready maxed out on rank or close to it and would like a chance to rank up again but I’m still tryen to get past brigadier

I actually think they should reset “ranks” and go back to a halo 2 and halo 3 setup where players can rank up and down in a numerical form. It was much more competitve and allowed players that didnt play every single day to come back and still have their rank instead of the bs team arena setup right now.

I know some people hated the rank refresh that Halo3 had but there was a ton of people that stayed dedicated and worked hard to get back to where they were; part of the enjoyment.

Halo Reach did do a great job of having different forms of games instead of straight team slayer, so I applaud them on that. Keep the forms of games Reach has but get back to halo2 style of team slayer rank!

The problem with that is because there was alot of illegal account selling in Halo 3. Bungie thought it was too great a price to pay for Reach, and I don’t think that 343 will copy them either. What they should do is have 2 ranking systems, one like in Halo 2/3, but only in certain playlists (It would be more refined and widespread than the arena mode in Reach) and have a basic ranking system like in reach, but with Spartan points instead of credits.

    • Locklear66 says:

Yea that would be fine with me I just don’t want them doin the same as reach and me having to start all over. I don’t play alote as it is and it will take me years to get anywhere

I just posted a comment, but it won’t show up. Why?
