29th March – Reach Daily Challenges Commentary

Gotta keep on these challenges to try and get your Weekly Challenge

One Spartan Army – Kill 150 enemies in Firefight Matchmaking – 1125 cR

You get 120 Grunts in Gruntpocalypse, about 100 enemies in Score Attack and something like 330 in a Firefight Matchmaking game (although split between up to 4 people). There was a great comment a while ago (sorry I can’t remember who said it) that if you need to ‘top up’ your FF kills, jump into a game of Generator Defense or Crashsite and once you have your kills give up the defense. That’s a great idea in situations like this.

Demon – Kill 40 Elites in Firefight Matchmaking – 1400 cR

Rocketfight’s usually a good one here, especially since they often up the amount of Elites you get, particularly in the Bonus Round. Fiesta Attack gave a lot more Elites than I’d seen before, but only about 25, and I think there were about 28 in the 2x Score Attack I played.

Mythic Bustin’ – Complete a Campaign mission on Heroic or harder with the Mythic Skull on – 1000 cR

A new challenge. And it’s going to be pretty easy to you LASO experts. If you need help as ever Tyrant’s guides are wonderful and great to follow, go to this page and select your mission. Your good options are Winter Contingency, because we should know it all really well by now, or Nightfall because you can run and glitch your way through the mission quickly and easily.

Better, Closer, Warmer – Earn at least 7 kills in a multiplayer Matchmaking game – 1000 cR

I really must update that Challenge Names page soon. I’m now laughing and singing the song this challenge name comes from – if you can tell me the song, album and band you win a lot of respect. Anyway, multiplayer, 7 kills. Should be easy in most formats, go with your best, Slayer, Rumble Pit, Grifball, Team SWAT, whatever really, 7 should be quick and easy.

So I hope everyone’s still keeping up with their 24 challenges – seriously try to get them all every day in case there are some tricky ones over the weekend.

these are pretty easy today. Dont forget the playlist update is supposed to happen today. Im looking forward to that. 🙂

    • WOOHOO! thanks for the reminder! i can’t wait. 😀

Your welcome. I downloaded the new Power Slayer gametype and played it in custom games and its pretty cool. You gain traits like faster sprint and overshield for getting certain types of kills such as headshots, melee, and assasinations. When you gain the traits you leave a trail of fire behind you until the trait is gone, which i think is 10 seconds. Looks cool. 🙂

Just thought I’d post this for Matthew to add to his “Challenges 101” post.

Mythc Bustin’ is likely a reference to a popular event at American rodeo’s known as Mutton Bustin’. In Mutton Bustin’, a young child is placed on top of a sheep while it is being held or restrained by a handler. Once the child is on the sheep, it is let go and the child attempts to hold on for as long as he or she can. Typically, most children fall off before 8 seconds have elapsed. While this is not a nationally recognized event and often organized on the local level, ribbons or small prizes are handed out to the top performers.

    Just thought I’d share!

Also, I’m always looking for people to play with. If you’re friends are mostly stuck playing Black Ops like mine are, add my GT – EyeOhYou.

Goodluck to everyone on your challenges!

    • oh gosh, the kids on sheep is HILARIOUS. we went to the salinas rodeo last year and i laughed SO much. i wonder if i have any good pictures. hmmm.

      • Andrew says:

Haha well I live in Colorado, and the rodeo tends to get a pretty good showing out here. I, personally, am not a fan (I prefer basketball and football), but from the pictures I’ve seen… it looks hilarious!

      • well apparently i spent more time laughing than i did snapping pictures so this is probably the best shot i have. i’m sure google has way better ones. 🙂

  7. Tyler says:

I need the elite one thats it. What are some good playlists for that. Thanks

    • rocket fight is good. so is ‘nade fight on multiplayer FF, tons of elites there. basically anything BUT gruntpoc for elites. oh and skirmageddon.

    • Andrew says:

2X score attack or Fiesta attack is great too. You get about 24 elites per game on those modes.

    • John says:

As above, 2x Score Attack or Fiesta Attack are both excellent for Elites as you get 20+ on the last round and with your enhanced shields and weaponry you can easily mow them down.

No idea why Gruntpoc is being recommended yet again in the commentary of the article when clearly it’s a bad choice for today.

      • for the first challenge, gruntpoc is a perfectly reasonable suggestion. *shrugs*

      • Matthew Vose says:

Haha, ‘recommended’ now seems to cover ‘mentioned to say how many kills you get in a gametype’. My commentaries are, and always have been, about giving a breakdown of the fastest way to achieve a challenge. I’m not going to go through ‘if this game type then do this, but if it’s this then…’ because there are too many variables now.

That’s why the comments and suggestions from people like yourself are so important, and exactly what I stated when I started this blog back in October, that I wanted a place to discuss the challenges and get into the minutiae of them. My commentary should be a top level affair of the best ways, but I have never said they are exclusive and the only way they should be done.

Kielbasa sausage, your butt cheeks is warm. EPIC.

  9. Bravo 501st says:

    what ranks are you all

  10. Reaperville says:

Colonel Grade 2, although I was a couple of months late off the starting block. And also I suck at MM 🙂

    • Reaperville says:

And also at replying to the right comment.

    • michael says:

I got Halo: Reach on 12/11/2010. The reason im such a high rank is because me and my son play it probably atleast 3 to 6 hours a day. lol. Dont worry, i probably suck worse than you do at MM. My K/D ratio is 0.85 right now. My 6 year old son is alot better than me, but i try. 🙂

      • Rob says:

Brig 1 here, and don’t feel bad… i’m at 0.65… way out of my element with FPS being more of a racing/rpg player… but it’s only a game and is keeping me out of trouble.

      • Locklear66 says:

I’m almost a brigadier grade one and my k/d is like 1.15 or so

  11. woo! i’m a brigadier now!
