6th January – Halo Reach Daily Challenges & Commentary

I spent about 3-4 hours in Arkham City last night. I got maybe 6% more of the game done. This could be a long stretch. I decided to give the combat challenges a quick go, almost beat the top score on my first try, then barely got the first target score on my next two. That was definitely a sign I needed sleep!

Today’s challenges are:

  1. Gunslinger – Kill 75 enemies in multiplayer Matchmaking – 2250 cR
  2. Up Close and Personal – Kill 5 enemies with close quarters combat in a multiplayer Matchmaking game – 2343 cR
  3. This is My Rifle… – Earn 40 kills with precision weapons in multiplayer Matchmaking – 2600 cR
  4. Three Dog Fight – Earn a Triple Kill in Multiplayer Matchmaking – 2000 cR

Commentary follows after the break…

Gunslinger – Kill 75 enemies in multiplayer Matchmaking – 2250 cR

Grifball as ever for high kill volumes. You can get 30, 40, 50 and more kills in a good game when you have your timing and eye in with the hammer. If you’re going for the last challenge then perhaps work in something like Team SWAT until you have that then finish this off in your favourite game type.

Up Close and Personal – Kill 5 enemies with close quarters combat in a multiplayer Matchmaking game – 2343 cR

Close Quarters Combat is essentially melee, assassination, sword, hammer or shotgun kills. Grifball is 100% melee and easy to get lots of kills when you get your timing right. Infection can be really good, and it does appear that sword kills count double for the sword and the pummel.

This is My Rifle… – Earn 40 kills with precision weapons in multiplayer Matchmaking – 2600 cR

Precision weapons are the DMR, Sniper Rifle, Focus Beam and Needle Rifle. Team SWAT will do you well here. Unless you use melee or Pistol every kill will be a precision weapon kill, so play it a few times, try and get a good team who will cover your back (and you theirs), and just do this over 2 or 3 games.

Three Dog Fight – Earn a Triple Kill in Multiplayer Matchmaking – 2000 cR

Multi-Team, Grifball and Team SWAT usually yield a good chance for multikills. Rumble Pit, particularly Juggernaut, is also an excellent place to do it in. Probably Grifball works best for you here, since it’s a massive melee with one hit kills for the most part.

Grifball, grifball, swat, grifball. I havent played reach this whole week, for Skyrim and work take much time!
I’m decent at grifball, so these are just a matter of getting some games in. I’ll make custom challenges too, like 300-500 medals in 3 hours. That pays well, esp. if you like Grifball. Every kill is at least a medal. A triple is at least 5, throw in some bulltrues, revenges, and sprees, and its easy to get. Depends on the teams too.
If anyone wants to join me, I’ll check here before I log on at 3:30pm EST. I’ll friend you, and invite to custom challenges too, if you want.

    • Fazzy says:

Ya, if you ever do custom challenges like that I’m in…add me or anyone else that’s actually good and wants to team up (don’t mean to sound egocentric but some people are terribly frustrating to play with).

      Gamertag = Fazzy06

      • chriscray says:

Cool. I’m not the best, I just like to play whack-a-mole. If wins aren’t a challenge, I go the bash fest. I do suck at holding the ball, my son likes to do that. I’ll add you fazzy, thanks!

    • Randy says:

I do customs on Waypoint as well. and I’d join in this, but I can’t play till around 6 EST or so, but I’m guessing you’ll still be on then, so GT is – RandAciousD FTW

      • chriscray says:

I’m sure I’ll be! I have the weekly to work on too. It seemed like an easy one, but not having played at all this week makes it seem harder. It’s not bad, just that an hour a day is better than 7 hours one day.

BTW, my GT is as above.

    • Randy says:

oh nice, I have the weekly done, and you’re right I just messed around on waypoint and I set a 200 medal thing and it was almost 5000 credits, loveeeee it

Hey guys what all can you do to get banned from earning cr. My cousin got on halo last nite and got temperaroly banned

    • Scruff 815 says:

God I hate it when I get temperaroly banned. It’s much worse than getting temporarily banned.

      Anyway, reasons why:
      – being AFK (away from keyboard – idling – not moving or shooting anyone) for a while during a game.
      – a spare controller brought in as a guest being AFK
      – quitting out too frequently (though this normally just prevents you from being able to join games)

      • Locklear66 says:

Hahahaha well as y’all all know I’m not the greatest speller but I also just got my first iPhone and im still gettin used to it. Ok enough excuses. Thanks for the information

      • Locklear66 says:

How long do these banns usually last, cause he’s still banned today

      • Scruff 815 says:

It’s usually 24 hours for a first time, then 48, then a week, then finally permanent. I think.

      • chriscray says:

That’s not good, my son told me its either 10-15 minutes. It doesn’t seem long, unless your sitting in front of the console!

        Good luck!

      • Locklear66 says:

        Ok thanks

      • Scruff 815 says:

10-15 minutes is the matchmaking bans (usually for too many quits) 🙂

      • Andrew Saxon says:

yes when you get banned for too many quits it bans you for exactly 10 minutes. I only know this because if your internet cuts out repeatedly, it will count it as quitting and ban you. I was having internet troubles recently and got banned a few times 😦

    • chriscray says:

I’ve only been temp banned once, I was playing with my son, and he kept getting invites to one custom game after another. We werent banned for long, but long enough to just do a local campaign to work on stats.

  3. Flacksguy says:

    Very Frustrating.
My internet connection kept dropping last night while trying to complete challenges. I’d get about 3/4ths of the way through, and it would cut out. EVERY SINGLE GAME I tried to play.
I never did get the Elite Challenge. But somehow I ended up with a ton of credits….go figure.
Haven’t really been playing very much Halo thanks to Red Dead Redemption.
I usually don’t care much for Westerns, but I am absolutely addicted to that game.

  4. thegoatboy says:

Just a heads up for everyone. It looks like the Custom Challenges are broken, no payouts.

    • Randy says:

      mine worked?

    • SensoryFour34 says:

You do know you have to wait for the time to run out before you get the cR, right? Also, it won’t tell you in-game if you complete a Custom Challenge. You just have to check Waypoint.

      • Jaxsis says:

Mine are not paying out either. I thought maybe I had just maxed them out since I basically do the same ones over and over. I have about 15 challenges that I have done over the past couple of days. The history says they are completed but there has not been any payout.

    • Meddling Monk says:

Yeah, I’ve noticed this too. They seemed to stop paying out sometime early Thursday morning MST. I’ve got a bunch that still just say “Completed” instead of “1st Place” on the website, and don’t show up at all in the Xbox Waypoint app.

      • Eskobar says:

Confirmed. Here’s hoping that the cR we earned will still count when they fix it.

    • chriscray says:

My 25,000 didnt pay either 😦 that mythic seems so far away!
