Commentary follows after the break…

More Than a Handful – Kill 25 enemies in multiplayer Matchmaking – 1000 cR

25 is much easier than the 125 we’ve had last couple of times. Multi Team Battle is the best way to get lots and lots of kills, you tend to get more than any other mode. If you play Crazy King or Oddball you can get even more as some people who would shoot you go for the objective, and you can take them out. Seasoned Grifball players will also be able to get this in only a game or two, and if you can make an area in an Infection game defensible as a human you can rack up kills quickly. But lo0king at the other challenges you can pick this up naturally with them.

Throwing Fireballs – Kill 7 enemies with grenades in a multiplayer Matchmaking game – 1400 cR

So many options for this. As always I think the objective games in Multi-Team battle are good for grenade kills, especially Crazy King as you can chuck grenades in the ‘hill’ to try and get more than one guy. The Elite variant games can be good with sticky grenades, but Armour Lock is so common now it’s not worth it. I’m thinking perhaps Invasion too, since that’s also not based on kill volumes and you can throw grenades into the target areas when the opposition are unlocking something. Squad Slayer on Zealot can be a grenade fest, Action Sack’s DinoBlasters is excellent for grenades since no one looks for them, Slayer Pro type games can be good. Team Doubles King of the Hill’s variants too.

Double Nickels – Earn 2 killing sprees in a multiplayer Matchmaking game – 1500 cR

This is two in one game. Try and get a weapon you like and aim to take out 5 guys with it. This is pure kills, not what you use, so as sticking with Plasma Grenades counts, Elite Slayer could be a good option. Of course the alternative is to play something like Boardwalk and snipe people from far away. Don’t get so engrossed in your scope you miss what’s happening around you though! Close Quarters often works well – so Grifball will be really good for getting this too. BTB works very well from the vehicles, especially the Falcon or Scorpion.

Hard Mode: Enabled – Complete a Campaign mission on Heroic with these Skulls on: Tough Luck, Thunderstorm, Tilt, Mythic – 2500 cR

It might sasy none on B.Net, but last time we saw this it said ‘None’ but that could be ignored. If you’ve been saving the Weekly Challenge then you’re quids in. I’m giving exactly the same advice – run Nightfall, get this done in 10 minutes, tops. As a guide to Nightfall speed run I’ve picked this video off Youtube randomly, but there are hundreds like it. In fact we have further options and details on the time we did it in LASO on this Weekly Challenge page and comments. There are other levels you may be more familiar with, but honestly, you can do this in 5-6 minutes with minimal stress.

Anyone else pick up that there’s a Campaign challenge on Multiplayer Friday? Peculiar.

Don’t forget next Thursday is Bungie Day, when we’ll also be having our regular Game Night, but formed of squads of 4 (with RDC used as the service tag so people know which community we’re from). Visit our hub page and let everyone know when you’ll be on so we can start doing a table of who’s on when for squad formations.

And when the weekend jackpot info appears I’ll update the bar on the right so you’re all aware, seems to be mid afternoon here (probably means it’s 8am PST they update the game) so when I see it I’ll add it in.

not bad challenges. the campaign one,ill just make a speed run on winter contingency with my brother.too easy lol.

yet again, good there is no assist challenge, i hate those in MM so much

  2. MadAmericanTacos says:

Really sounds like they are trying to push completion of the weekly to me. Best option for today is just play like normal and the challenges will take care of themselves .

    • mickoboy90 says:

we have done the weekly challenge ages ago. on monday that is 🙂

      • MadAmericanTacos says:

Yeah but some people are still holding out cause they can’t do speed runs lol

      • Niisama Broham says:

You honestly could take double or triple the time you would normally take on a level and get this weekly done. It’s just a matter of Save/Quit nearing the end of the level. Doing that will reset the counter.

Cheating? Yeah, I’d agree but, no one should walk away from this weekly saying, “I couldn’t get it done!” :sad face:

      • mickoboy90 says:

thats what ive done. before killing the final zealot elites, just as you walk down the small ramp, you get a checkpoint. save and quit, resume, use plasma pistol and dmr to kill elites, press the switch and ta-da. weekly challenge done 😀

  3. HC Sangheili says:

If you can stomach a match of Living Dead, 5 kills with the shotgun nets 3 sprees; Killing Spree, Shotgun Spree, Zombie Killing Spree. 5 kills with the pistol nets 2; Killing and Zombie.

    • Tom says:

Too bad it’s specifically 2 Killing Sprees and not just Sprees in general. A very annoying challenge. I usually get about 1 Killing Spree a game, but only very rarely 2. I feel like I won’t get this one done.

  4. Sir Galahad 63 says:

Matt, your spellings a bit off today… I’m not critising you, this is just beneficial for all of us 🙂

For the first challenge you wrote “looking” with a zero…
And for the last challenge you put “sasy”. This you meant “say”?

These challenges are too easy, apart from the grenade one. I tend not to use grenades all that much, my aim always goes spazzo when I throw one 😀

I’m hoping to join you guys for Bungie day, I’m going to wake up bright and early Friday morning 5:00am so we can get some steak!! But probably gift cards seeing as we arent in the US 🙂

  5. Woody says:

Nice challenges to end my Reach playing week with, since I will miss out on Saturday and Sunday’s challenges.

  6. Sergeant Jinto says:

Couple of good challenges up for today. Looks like another speedrun on Tip of the Spear for me tonight! I’ve been trying to perfect my sections for faster times. Maybe I can get it under 10 minutes!

    • leroygetz says:

Hey jinto check out a guy called RC MASTER. He does tip of the spear in under ten minutes! Crazy stuff 🙂

      • Sergeant Jinto says:

Yeah, only he did his on LASO. @_@

My best LASO run is 18 min so far. Normal Legendary though, I’m down to 10.

  7. matt a says:

I did TotS in 10 mins once and never again haha. For the speeds I’ve actually done this in many games. Go into a splockets match on action sack. Just watch for the laser marks and you’re fine. Make sure to use jet pack or armor lock as these allow death avoidance. 2 kills from a running riot last night in a splockets game.

  8. Tom says:

I am in such a huge slump in matchmaking at the moment. I just can not seem to play to the level I used to. It’s so bad that I doubt I’ll be able to get the grenade or spree challenges.

For example, I used to be able to go into Living Dead and get the double spree challenge in a couple of games, and I’d get one spree in one of the others. Today I couldn’t string 2 measly kills together. I also went into rumble pit and in a game of Elite Slayer managed only 3 grenade kills for the game.
I tried multi-team but got Rocket Hog Race twice in a row so i rage quit.

    Sorry for the rant 🙂

  9. drgonzo says:

can anyone tell me were i can get the 27jackpot this weekend, the message dont poped up at my screen.
    ty

  10. Pillar of Fire says:

Got a random question. Does the CQB Helmet and Attachments(unlocked via Halo Waypoint) count towards you 100% armory completion? It would be a shame getting stuck on 99% until I have to buy ODSt again, simply because the game didn’t recognize that I completed ODST on Legendary.

Was anyone else as disappointed with Bungie Aerospace as I was?

    • Niisama Broham says:

Yes. I’m fairly certain when I unlocked that helmet, the completion percentage went up. It happened again when I unlocked an attachment.

I’m thinking anything you can see in the armory that gives you a “requirement to unlock” counts. The bonus items you get from events and sure don’t.

      • Niisama Broham says:

        *events and such don’t.

      • Pillar of Fire says:

Noooooo lol…………..thx for clearing that up for me. Maybe I can rent ODST for one day hmm…

      • Niisama Broham says:

lol no problem. I feel your pain. Renting it would be a good idea.

  11. Matthew Vose says:

Halo Reach Jackpots announced – 1 week in ANY PLAYLIST, up to 30k daily. Double Jackpots in Arena, Premium Slayer & Premium Battle.

  12. famallama says:

So if you get the daily in a double sllot do you get double the daily?

    • no…you’ll either get the daily mega jackpot (the 30k) or you’ll get a normal slot machine or in the specified playlists, you’ll get up to 6k cR in the super jackpot.

  13. michael (DR HIGGLESTEIN) says:

For some reason my Bungie Nameplate is gone. I read on the Bungie forums that alot of people are having this same problem. Jerimiah said they are looking into it. Anyone else having this problem with the Nameplate vanishing?

    • HC Sangheili says:

Yes. Mine was gone when I logged in after work this afternoon.

      • michael (DR HIGGLESTEIN) says:

Yeah when i seen it i was like WTF? Hopefully they will get it fixed soon.

    • HC Sangheili says:

Additionally, I just went to b.net’s game settings, it was set to blank. I changed it to a DMR, logged out, back in, and it’s there.

    • Yeah, mine dissapered between two games, then the star nameplate shown up on bungie.net

  14. Matt says:

I’m going to put in here how much I enjoyed a game of Team Hot Potato on Unanchored last night, in the Premium Battle playlist. Let me start by pointing out that I generally don’t like small maps and have played maybe 5 games on Anchor 9/Unanchored ever despite owning the DLC since it was released. Anyway, Team Hot Potato on that map is GREAT. Limiting AAs to Sprint, Evade, and Active Camo really forces people to play Hot Potato intelligently rather than sealing off corridors with Armor Lock or Drop Shield. The AR/Pistol starts are helpful in forcing the focus of the battle to follow the potato carrier, rather than allowing people to hold off the enemy indefinitely from a camping spot.

I used Sprint the whole game (normally I’m a BTB guy and I use Camo to get to good shooting positions in Slayer or Armor Lock/Evade to play defense in flag games) and I went spent a good amount of time running around corners and punching people in the face or dropping in for assassinations on the other team as they focused on the potato carrier. I went about 20 and 10 and found that I spent much more time flanking the other team, throwing grenades into corners, and generally doing everything but DMR/AR spamming to win.

I think Team Hot Potato – maybe even Big Team Hot Potato (gasp!) – should be its own playlist, and I think loadouts should be left as they are.

    • Cheborneck says:

You dont like small maps because you like big maps where you can camp amd snipe. Where’s then fun in that? You say in one paragraph that you prevent campers then admit in the last that you use camo and camp kill. And you say you’re a grenade tosser because you don’t wanna spam a dmr. Or is it because you suck at the dmr. People that play with your methods aren’t using intelligence as you claim. It’s more inexperience than anything else (ie. Noobism). Let the flames begin!

      • Matt says:

I don’t camp. When I talk about using Camo to get to a good shooting spot I mean getting to places on the map where I can skirmish without getting sniped or taken out by a tank / Banshee 3 seconds after spawning.

I win much more than half of my one-on-one DMR fights, so I don’t worry about the DMR. What’s nice about not starting with a DMR is that the emphasis shifts to pistol headshots and close-quarters/fast thinking play, not team battles that span the entirety of a small map and make the middle a no-man’s land.

As for Armor Lock, it’s silly to play with any other AA when playing (by my choice) mostly defense in CTF Gametypes.

Anyway, Cheboorneck, you seem to have read my feeling that the change was refreshing to mean that I’m guilty of all the things that I thought were nice to leave out of Team Hot Potato. That’s not the case, but I suppose there’s no reasoning with trolls.

  15. mickoboy90 says:

I hate these jackpots.they are meant to be random?? i dont think so..every week my brother gets it on his 1st-5th game and i hardly, almost never get it..sometimes i get lucky and get it on my 20th game, but usually never get it.

  16. Cheborneck says:

No offense to the person that runs this blog for the app but your choices are skewed. Elite slayer and KOTH are not grenade happy maps. No offense

    • Sergeant Jinto says:

I agree on using KotH though. You get people clustering together all the time to capture the hill. Perfect grenade targets.

    • Scruff UK says:

KOTH is perfect for grenade kills. You can usually get 3 or 4 per ‘hill’.

Also this is not an app. It’s a blog on the interwebs that happens to be accessible from someone else’s app 😉

    • i kind of agree about Elite slayer just because everyone runs around with AL and you only start with 1 grenade. but KOTH variants, especially on multi team, are freaking’ perfect for grenade kills….

      • Matthew Vose says:

Not everyone uses AL, and anytime I’ve played ES it’s a grenade fest as you’re always replenishing from those that have fallen.

    • Matthew Vose says:

Where have you been Cheborneck? I thought we hadn’t seen you trying to pick apart other people’s comments and details on the blog for a while, but assumed you’d taken my advice to stay on b.net forums.

And did you read that I say that ES is probably not worth it anymore because of the prevalence of AL? Presumably not.

Also, as you can see from the other comments, Multi Team is a great way to pick up grenade kills (hence why it’s listed first).

  17. Scruff UK says:

A little late to the party here but the Campaign challenge can’t be done in combination with the Weekly, unfortunately. The Weekly has to be done on Legendary and the Daily has to be done on Heroic (not ‘Heroic or harder’). 😦

As for Super Jackpots – surely Grifball / Living Dead (if you can stomach them) are the way forwards? Given that the games are quick, that should give you more chance to get the Jackpots? Although given that I hate Grifball and think Living Dead is only fun when you start as a human, it’ll be SWAT for me this week, I think 🙂
